Are you aware of the reasons that caused the STEEM Blockchain down time?
Are you aware of the reasons that caused the STEEM Blockchain down time?
It really would help the community if you explain these stuff in a post and comment the link below. I did read this post: https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemitblog/steemit-com-and-nodes-operational
- I have no clue. I'm confused
- I know a little bit about it
- I know in depth about it
- I worked on fixing the issue (You are welcome!)
- I don't care about any of this

I read that "a bug in the curations reward curve that was unrelated to the previous halt or the delegation bug"*., but I don't know (nor understand any) in-depth mathematical details about it.
I understand that the ***"The bug was the result of a subtle behavior in the new curation rewards curve that lead to votes being able to have a curation reward weight of -1".
I also understand that "When paid out, these votes were attempting to receive trillions in STEEM. This was caught by other assertions which instructed the blockchain to halt block production and prevent the unintended behavior from impacting any reward distribution.".
I understand all of this. But I don't understand something like a computed value of 2^64 - 1.
I am not a programmer, and I currently don't have any in-depth mathematical knowledge either.
