See the winner of the last week´s European Thursday @fotostef with the following entry:

For this week I have a shot that I took from the ship's deck as we were entering Heraklion port on my way home. Usually the ships arrive at Crete before the sunrise but thanks to a change of the schedule I had the chance to take a few shots as the sun was rising above the mountains.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Asian Sunday week #71 - winner announcement!

@vinceboisgard Asian Sunday entry:

From the highest roof of Dhaka, the view is incredible. The scenery is almost futuristic, old buildings falling a part and new construction shining under this magnificent light. The pollution creates a fog sitting over the capital gives the final touch to this photo.

The lonely mountain - Taranaki. This mountain stands alone in the heart of Taranaki in New Zealand and is regarded by the Maori as a god, therefore a living being that must be respected. The surrounding countryside is simply stunning with all the little undulations.

@vcclothing African Wednesday entry:

Sunset in Etosha National Park - Namibia. We were heading out for a night game drive in our 4x4 and stopped to watch the sunset when all of a sudden a group of giraffes started to appear. It was the best sun set I have ever witnessed.

Detail of the Casa Batlló (Batlló’s House). A very interesting building of the famous Catalonian architect Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926). This house is located in Barcelona, it was built in 1904-1906, and it is an important exponent of the Catalonian Modernism Architectonic movement of the beginning of the XX century.

I published more photos of this famous and building in my post.

Wow, very interesting angle. I love your original approach to architecture photography.

I am glad that you liked the image. Thank you for your words.

This is Lagoa das Sete Cidades, one of the must-see lagoons in S. Miguel Island, in Açores. Weather in Açores can be tricky, and you'll be lucky if you can see her from one of the viewpoints without any fog... I wasn't lucky, but still got a pretty good view!

Nice view, you leave me a comment today under my other profile @chesatochi ;)

Hey there :) And thanks for the comment!

I really love the Açores. Have you also been on the other islands?

Only S. Miguel, unfortunately! And I do have to visit it again, I got such bad weather the only time I went there that most of the things I wanted to do couldn't be done... it's always a good excuse to go back! :)

The Winter Tale

Yesterday evening the temperature here dropped much more below zero. And at the same time came quite dense fog from the sea and gulf. Coming back home in the evening have noticed the frost starting to form on the trees. Counting very calm night as per forecast couldn't miss such an opportunity and early morning woke up to look around how things look like... And they looked just amazing, so grabbed my camera and run to the small ferry which passed me to other side of the gulf - to Curonian Spit.
And.. I have appeared in a true winter wonderland. Very soft and pastel colors of a winter sunset combined with completely frosted forest. Untouched territory, only signs of some small animals on the snow. Well, there are a lot of my steps there now too :D

Enjoy the scenery :)

Oh this is subtle and beautiful, Nice work!

Zurich in Switzerland. An old, expensive and culturally rich city. I got up early one morning in the hostel and found the roof. I had a great, uninterrupted fly around of the old town, seen here in the image.

Lastovo Island, Croatia

As the furthest inhabited Croatian island, Lastovo doesn’t crave attention like some of its Dalmatian counterparts. The picturesque landscape of bright blue horizons and engulfing pines speak for themselves, attracting travelers looking to escape the crowds and tourist traps.

This 5m³ big stone is wedged between two rocks in the height of 1050 meters. If you are not afraid of heights you can walk on the stone for an awesome adrenalin kick and a really amazing picture :)

Nice sunset in Porto, Portugal. It is always nice to walk near water at night just before supper, it is even better when you have a nice view like this. The city is known for its Porto obviously, but it is also a nice place for foodies and backpackers to enjoy.

The famous Lake Bled was a place we were anticipating to visit in Slovenia. We arrived on a cloudy day but that didn't matter as it has bought out another side of this stunning location. Simply a must visit if you are in the area!

I look at the enemy and hide myself with a good coffee and think of the best approach to make it disappear from Estremoz in Portugal!

It is always great to take old structures in picture. :)

Larissa Castle, Argos, Greece.

argos_MG_7200.jpg

As a fortified observation point for Argos, one of the oldest Greek cities and part of the Most Ancient European Towns Network, its existence goes way back! This place was constantly in use from the prehistoric times till world war II and has been occupied and destroyed over and over again. Today it is a decaying mark of a lost era where you can find a peaceful and full of energy scenery, ideal for musing on a gloomy winter day!
