7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Tuesday of Antarctica and the world’s oceans - the absolute winner takes 150 SBD!

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Hello fellow steemians!

Welcome to my 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Tuesday of Antarctica and the world’s oceans - where the winner of the weekly round will be able to participate for the total of 150 SBD! Today you can participate by submitting your personal pictures from your travels to a continent of Antarctica. I am also adding world's oceans to the challenge as I am guessing it would be fairly hard to get many entries for Antarctica only.

Your entries need to be submitted by the midnight of Central European Time in order to be considered for the challenge with a description of approximately 30 to 50 words. Only one picture to be submitted for a daily photo challenge. The rule number one is to use only personal images. Ten winning photos will receive an upvote from me from which I will pick one winner that will receive extended publicity in my post tomorrow morning. I will also visit his/her blog to upvote one of the most recent posts.

The winner of daily challenge then competes against winners from other continental challenges of the respective week to receive the price of 15 SBD. That will be decided by you based on the dollar value of upvotes of my winning post announcement. The winning weekly picture then automatically enters other rounds for the price of 150 SBD in total.

Please see the winner of Asian Sunday as well as Australian Monday and give them your support if you like their image to be the one winning the weekly price and entering the other stages of the 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge. @bypaul entry post for Asian Sunday is below:

This summer I traveled through Thailand. At the end of my journey I visited the nationalpark Khao sok. It consists mainly of a huge artificial lake which was made 40 years ago. This shot was in the calm of the rising morning mist with the dead trees from 40 years ago poking through the surface of the calm water.

@justdentist entry post for Australian Monday is below:

I want to share this beautiful picture of the Banks Peninsula south of Christchurch with you. We went "Penguin Watching", saw an yellow-eyed penguin and all in all it was one of the most gorgeous day trips during our NZ roundtrip.

Photo of the central Venezuelan coast, in the Vargas state. As it can be observed the photo was taken just before sunset. At this time the sea water completely changes the colour, in this case it has a violent tone.

I updated the photo description.

Fantastic! Thank you so much!

Such a beautiful picture for the challenge. Thank you so much for sharing.

The island of Capri, just of the coast of Italy, is one of the most beautiful islands I've ever been to. The photo was taken from an Ancient Greek house in the little town of Anacapri on the highest point on the island.

What a great picture Jaco! Capri is absolutely amazing.

One beautiful day in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, The Galapagos islands, the sun was bright and the water was not too cold to witness the teeming wildlife of this paradise. I excitedly swam up to the middle of the endless sea and was immediately greeted by an incomparable beauty around me. Although the visibility was not that good, my snorkeling mask was enough for me to appreciate the amazing underwater landscape. I marveled at this sea lion in front of me for a while, and that moment I knew - this is how it is to be happy....

Wow, what a great picture! I will be announcing the winner soon.

This picture shows a lovely beach formed by the powerful Pacific Ocean - to me it is just so perfect - clear water, palm trees, sand and even a small waterfall. A pure treasure give to us by nature!

I spent last 2 month in Sicily. We have a great view to the Tyrrhenian sea. Sunsets and sunrises are spectacular. Few days ago I was watching the sunset, the colors made by the sun were still there and simultaneously the Moon and stars were visible on the sky. I stayed out for a while watching the sea and the sky with the Moon and and Venus.. I hope you like it:-)

This photo was taken in Kauai in Hawaii - we find that the ocean colour actually is different to the beaches we have in Australia. The water seems to be a bit more 'bluer' than in the Southern Hemisphere.

What a beautiful shot! I love it!

This is a shot taken at Vava'u in the Kingdom of Tonga where humpback whales migrate as far as 5000kms each year from Antarctica to give birth to these wonderful new borns in the warm waters of the Pacific. Once hunted to the brink of extinction for their oil and meat, every new born calf is a reason to celebrate as their numbers are slowly restored. 😊
