Tips to be a good customer

Hey, ever wondered how store-clerks see you?

So I am currently working in 7-11 and I have been working there for almost 2 years now. I know my shit :D But I still gets a lot of shit from customers which annoy me and annoys my colleagues and how do I know? Because we talk and make fun about you when you leave the store! With this few tips you will be getting the best service possible! (At least where I work :p)

Tip #1 - "Come in and figure out what you want before going to the cashier"

Some of these may seem logic to most of us, but not to all. If you come up to the cashier and tells them what you, but its an item you have to pick up yourself in the store, then you have to get it yourself and I will tell you to do so, but if there are more people in the line I will cancel your items and help the next customer and you will have to wait in line (again) and I dont care if you have to get on a bus or the train, figure out what you need before coming to the cashier.

Tip #2 - "Say hi to the people behind the counter"

I can assure you, being nice to the people who works in a store will make your shopping way more sweeter and no it doesn't matter how ofte you come in, if you aint being nice. If you come often and isn't pleasent to deal with, we will make up names for you and maybe even play "rock, siccor, paper" and the loser have to take your order.

Tip #3 - "Don't point!!"

This may just apply to me specifically but if you point at an item or cake or anything that I have to get for you. I will not move, the reason we have signs on the things is so you can use your eyes and brain to read it, go to cash-register and say it, easy peasy!

If you point at something because you are to lazy to read, I will first of all not move until you come back and tell me the name and secondly it to me feels like you think I am too stupid to know what I have in the store and what the different items are. Dont do that.

If I didn't know I would ask you to point, also if you dont speak the language just come over the cash-register and tell that you want something at the cake section, because you dont know how its pronouced. I will happily help you! And I will try to make you pronouce it, just for fun :p

Last bit, if the item you want doesn't have a sign tell me that it misses a sign. Thats not your fault and you were nice to tell, so I can fix it, I appricate that so much!

Tip #4 - "If it doesn't happen in the store, then it ain't my problem"

I work at a train station and there comes and goes a lot of people everyday and every night.

People sometimes complain about the trains being late or that some people smoke where they ain't "allowed" to and they tell that to me. I cant do jack shit about either or, nor do I have time to take care of something you can do yourself.

Second if there is a fight on track 1 e.g and you tell me about the fight and wants me to call the police, I didn't see the fight, so I cant explain it for the police making it less useful, just call them yourself! People are little bitches when it comes to calling the police x)

You could call this a bit of a rant and it properly is, some stuff just annoys me. But by following this tips you are more than welcome in my store :D

Anyone else have any tips? @niallon11 maybe? :D

Peace!

I could do a full post with enough time. My main thing with customers or any person in general is their attitude. If they come up to me with the right attitude and politely ask for help or anything else I will try my best to help them with the problem. Even if i need to bend the rules or go out of my way, I probably will.

If they approach with a bad attitude and demand anything or confront me, they won't be getting any satisfaction. Even if it's well within my range to fix the problem I wont be very inclined to help them out and probably wont do anything for them.

Manners iare a simple thing but they go a long way when dealing with people.

I couldn't agree more!
When people come up to me and demand a product, I never say the price or have a good day. I just stand there in silence :D
