Marvellous May Bush.
The May Bush ( Spiraea cantoniensis ) is a Deciduous Shrub to around 2 metres ( 6 feet ) tall. It is native to China. The May Bush has cane-like growth with serrated green leaves, and a great show of pure white flowers in springtime. It does best in a full sun position and is fast growing. It has few pests and diseases, and likes a hard pruning every now and then after flowering. It is best suited to a cool or temperate climate. There is also another variety of Spiraea with Pink flowers. They are in flower now in the Suburbs of Sydney.
The second photo really shows how big the bush can become! with lots of white flowers! This would look great on the north side of my house!
Alas, you says it doesn't like hot and humid weather! Life is not fair!
You have all the love trees and flowers in our part of the world!
BTW, these flowers look a bit like our old style jasmins.
Cheers.
