Dear Diary: My Parents Are Preparing Some Sweet Yam Dessert Today For My Mother's Birthday

When I was just a kid we never run out of sweet yam dessert for these December occasion, that dessert of a steamed or boiled yam that is grated and then cooked with condensed milk, it is really delicious because of the milky taste and the flavor of the yam tuber.
What we do is to just plant the yam and then let it grow for one year. The yam tuber likes a sandy soil and it does grow big into it, I have planted some many years ago in a sack which is about 95% sand and let the vine crawl up high in our tree and about six months later I reaped huge tubers which I sold some for cash because my neighbor bought it.
But a yam tuber can grow almost anywhere with less maintenance and it is better to grow it in soil or sand with less stones so that it will produce a tuber with less dents so the appearance of the tuber will depend on the condition of the soil where you planted it.
What my parents are preparing right now is the violet variety but it has also the same taste and consistency or texture as other yams. The dessert will be served for my mother's birthday for tomorrow.

Plus a lime rind extract to give it a very nice flavor. Plus margarine too.
