Dear Diary: My Mother Went Out For Her Thyroid Function Test

My mother has a thyroid issues but nothing to be alarmed of because she is taking a medicine for it. The medicine is affordable and also not giving her any issues unlike what I am enduring with my own medicine. It is also good that the Thyroid function test is not that expensive and we can afford it. In fact she didn't ask me to give her some cash for the laboratory test.

My mother's Thyroid problem originated from where she was born and raised. Apparently she wasn't able to eat or given seafoods which is rich in iodine so in turn she developed a Thyroid issue which fortunately is quite mild but is giving her a problem like aches and pains or something like that.

My mother lived in a mountainous region and they just eat off the land where they farm their own foods. Even the rice that they are eating has to be manually dehusked by hand by beating it into a special big wooden mortar and pestle.

My cousin in the other hand wasn't so lucky because she died from it when she gave birth to her first child so it was tragic even for me that have only known her for a little bit when she and her other sister lived here in our house for a little time in the past when I was still young.

Now I am glad that my mother's Thyroid issue is medicated and the slight elevation of her Thyroid hormones is now controlled and it gives her a good well-being now unlike before where she complains about the lumping of her throat.
