Dear Diary: It Is Better To Give To Kids During Christmas Time
My brother had a hard feelings to his godfather which is the cousin of my Father, it is because he was never given a gift when my brother came to him during Christmas time when we were still young. Here in my country where Catholicism is predominant, Christmas is celebrated and at Christmas day the children wears their special clothes and shoes and they go out and pay respects to their elders, parents, and godparents for the hope of being given with money or gifts.
The first person I would take their hand and touch it with my forehead (a sign of respect here for the elders) was from my mother (because my father was always away working abroad) and she will give me my first cash/gift. Then I will go to my neighbor where my godmother lives but when I was about ten years old she left for good to the US so I got orphaned
with a godparent because she was the only one godmother I had and she was an old maid as she never married.
Then we will go to my uncle's wife and she will give me some cash too. After that we will go to my father's cousins from his uncle but only a couple will give to us considering there are nine of them siblings plus my fathers uncle and his wife won't give even a coin.
That is the end of where I can get my gifts from my immediate relatives and the next stop was to the house of my grandmother's brother and getting gifts from those people really is a frustration because I do not recall receiving from my uncles there and it does suck.

It is funny because me and my brothers and some cousins would time that our uncle would be all alone and there we make our moves only to end up empty-handed.
It's not a good experience if I think about it because it feels like we are begging for money and at young age I did felt some frustration back then and I also feel like I am trying to make Christmas time a happy time but always ended in frustration as Is aw it also from my brother who never got even a cent from his god-effing-father.
Case And Point
This Christmas time make it a point to give to children who comes to you because they will not muster the bravery to go to you without expecting something, at least give them something or they will definitely remember you, in an awfully bad way.
Yep, X-mas should rightfully be for kids. Just like the Bible says we should all strive to be child like !

@cryptopie Christmas is very different over here. You can receive cash at Christmas, and most companies that people work for will give out a cash bonus.
Usually most people and children just receive presents under the Christmas tree, either on Christmas eve or Christmas morning. They are all wrapped up, and the mess of wrapping paper after everyone has finished opening everything fills up garbage bags........
My kids are all grown and my two boys are married, and we still get together and celebrate together....... and make a mess in there home LOL!!!

Yes we live in a different world it seems but generally here there are lots of pre-Christmas parties and lots of foods around, the celebration extends in New Year.
Sometimes others want Christmas all year 'round because people are in their best clothes especially children.
