Splinterland's Weekly Share Your Battle involves a Wter Splinter Untamed monster - Giant Squid and I am happy to bring you a battle I won using the Giant Squid and I am thankful to the team of @splinterlands for featuring my blog with last week's challenge with Serpentine Spy.

Giant Squid, is a Rare Water Monster belonging to untamed category of cards and is a low cost monster and kudos to Splinterlands team again for unearthing low cost yet some powerful monsters thru these Weekly Challenges.

Statistics and Abilities of Giant Squid:

image.png

Giant Squid is a Mediaum mana cost monster with low ranged attack(max of 3) and low speed (again 3 max) with medium health with maximum of 5.

Let's see the stats in detail.

This monster has 8 different levels with different stats and abilities in each level.

Ranged Attack of the monster is Two in levels 1 to 6 and increases to 3 in remaining 2 levels i.e. 7 and 8.

Speed of the monster is a max of 3 and levels 1 and 2 have a speed of 1, levels 3,4 and 5 have speed of 2 and levels 6,7 and 8 have a max speed i.e. 3.

This monster has armors in the range of 1 to 2 with levels 1 to 4 having single armor and remaining 4 levels have 2 armors.

Armors are a bonus for this medium health monster.

Health is 4 in level 1 and remaining 7 levels have health of 5 each.

It has couple of nice abilities in Blind and Weaken.

Blind imposes restriction on opponent's monsters with increased chance of them missing the target with regards to melee and ranged monster.

Weaken literally weakens the opponent's monsters by reducing the health of each of the monsters.

My Lineup for this battle

As you can see above, this battle was with Water splinter and even opponent had lined up Water splinter as well.

The monsters I used were:
  • Sea Monster
  • Medusa
  • Sea Genie
  • Enchanted Pixie
  • Giant Squid
  • and
  • The Krakken
  • Sea Monster:

Sea Monster is one of the nicest cards with heavy melee attack and more importantly it comes with 2 nice abilities in Thorns and self Healing. The only drawback could be it's speed and is prone to get attacked by other monsters before it gets to attack.

Used this as main attack monster because of it's healing ability and also for the melee attack.

    Medusa

Medusa is quite an attractive monster by look, yet one of the deadliest monsters with Stun ability.

It gives nice magic attack and Stun is super cool and doesn't allows the attacked monster to attack in the next round.

Used this in second position although it is a low health monster because I had the liberty of The Krakken attracting all the monsters towards it and allowing my monsters to concentrate to the front monster of opponent.

    Sea Genie

Sea Genie is among the highly used Water Splinter monsters because of it's magic attack range along with it's ability to getting evaded by a monster hit(melee and ranged) due to it's Flying ability.

Used this in third position just to allow it to stay in battle for longer time and also to ensure I have a good magic attack as this gives a 3 magic attack.

    image.png

    Enchanted Pixie

Enchanted Pixie is a low cost, low magic attack monster and at higher levels, it inspire other melee monsters by increasing their melee attack by 1.

Used this as third magic monster because it gives a magic attack of 2 for 3 mana cost.

    image.png

    Giant Squid

The monster which is for this week's challenge is Giant Squid and it's a ranged attack monster with medium ranged attack starting with 2 and increases upto 3. It's armors are added protection and keeps it alive for another round or 2.

Used this is Fifth position because it is a ranged monster and my other melee and magic monsters can attack even when they comes to front position.

    image.png

    The Krakken

The Krakken is a heavy tank with melee attack starting with 4 and most of the time, this monster is used at the backend of the lineup to attract all the monsters to hit from backend because of it's ability of Taunt.

I used this monster specifically because of Taunt ability, so that all opponent's monsters attack this and my monsters can do maximum damage to frontline monsters.

    The Battle:

I played with Water monster as you know and opponent played with Water splinter as well with his lineup, Goblin Mech, Cyclops, Prismatic Energy, Mischievous Mermaid, Highland Archer and Sea Genie.

A nice lineup by opponent as well, but I think, The Krakken won the battle for me.

    image.png

Round 1 was a heavy one and took out the Gobin Mech and Cyclops from opponent's lineup and all the monsters I used were still intact.

    image.png

Round 2 saw 3 more opponent's monsters losing out in Prismatic Energy, Mischievous Mermaid and Highland Archer and last monster standing for opponent was Sea Genie .

    image.png

It was quick third round with Sea Genie getting removed.

    image.png

Inspite of Earthquake battle, only monster I lost was The Krakken because of taunting other monsters to hit it.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Yes, The Krakken was the difference between me and opponent as it didn't allow any of the second line monsters to attack Sea Monster and it survived till end.

If I have to use something different, then it has to be a sniper monster instead of Giant Squid, yes, I guess that is the only change I see.

Do you use the GIANT SQUID often? Why or why not?

Frankly speaking, no, because this is still very new to me and I am accustomed to using magic monsters more and more along with Pirate Captain and Water Elemental in my lineups.

That is all I could write right now and take a break from you with this line.
