As a part of ongoing promotion, and pushes towards establishing a GridCoin Foundation Discussed Here I'll am about to update with the status and further actions:

  • We have some long terms supporters that express their will to take place into formation of Foundation and joining the decision making board . Some of them would like to take their place in decision making board, while some others would like to sustain from being a part of such panels. I think both categories are important. Active participation is a crucial step in decision making, while passive members takes important role as a control mechanism.

The next step I am going to take, is organizing a local monthly meetups, with the purpose of:

  • Face to Face discussion about burning topics that market previous month. (State of Network being the main material of discussion).
  • Getting local scientists and University Representatives to join our meetings and engage them into our topics.
  • Supporting educational institutions to embrace Boinc and Gridcoin into their infrastructural research. Providing Face to Face knowledge transfer.
  • Informing a general public about our core values and benefits of taking place in Gridcoin / Boinc Infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with other groups for the purpose of establishing international Foundation.

At the time, I am in process of organizing a meetup in Belgrade.

If you are in Belgrade, or have ability to join, i strongly encourage you to become a part of local meetup group https://www.meetup.com/GridCoin-Belgrade/

What would be also cool, is if you are able to host such groups at your local place.

This is the first step towards establishing a foundation, by coordinating local groups. I will try to do the same in London.

While decentralization and anonymity definitely has it's place, a clear and transparent organization with credible names is also an important factor.

Important Disclaimer for those who are not following the concept from the beginning: The goal is not to establish an "Official Foundation" for something that's decentralized. Rather, an non-profit organization that will support and protect interests of these GridCoin projects whose respective developers decide to take a part in such entity.

See you in Belgrade, at first GridCoin face to face meetup. Agenda and dates will get published shortly after I collect more opinions and advices, but so far, I can promise a high quality discussions and a lot of beer afterwards.

Join Local Group Here: https://www.meetup.com/GridCoin-Belgrade/

You can help popularize GridCoin too by organizing meetups within your local community.

See you in Belgrade, by early February.

This is great initiative. Looking at the map how to get there, I think I will pass. How many, approximately, people you got there? And how many you think will gather?
About the Foundation: Are you looking to actually collect and manage funds? I would advise giving this entity/meetup a distinct name to avoid confusion with The gridcoin foundation wallet.

Thanks @tomasbrod, Currently I invited some of my colleagues who work in IT and Science, but to be honest most of them have no idea of this project. I am going to send official invitation to people from Belgrade University, but so far it's hard to tell. That's why I invited people I know, so we don't end up with few persons only. The first meetup is always a bit tricky to do right.

As for the foundation name, that's one of the topic on agenda to be discussed taking into account given fact. I'm sure we are going to come up with few models, but the key to success of this is to engage other people to host similar events in their local communities, so we can collaborate between communities as well.

The good thing is that we have a topic of interest (Free Boinc Powered WiFi), so I believe it's going to be a nice opening.

As for the moment, we do not operate money, but sooner or latter this will need to happen as the entity will manage projects that do have costs to run. My best bet is that we are going to be able to find people with experience in this area who will be in charge for such operations. On the other side, for the purpose of transparency, making more communities is a crucial.

Let's say this is going to be a test for the even I am planing for London, so we can minimize mistakes, as I expect much more people there if everything goes well here.

Looks like I'll have to make a lot of chocolate chip cookies :)

...with GRC logo made of chocolate on top :D

working on prototype :D

And Rakija open source :)

Love it.

Will get one started in my city ASAP

Cool! Imagine what we can do if we manage to organize at least one such community meetup in every major city once in a while. And then, one day - an International GridCoin Conference. boom.

Sadly I can't join you in Belgrad. But very good initiative =)

@grider123 There will be time for sure. But If you can do similar in your City, it would be even better. One day, we can merge all these groups into single international conference.
