Picturesque skylight - seeing my way through the not so picturesque times ahead

I was driving. I had to stop to catch the view. I could see through —

All the bullshit that happens in a single moment, the tic of a grandfather clock, every minute, each day, and year that we parade this Earth.

Well, we are parasites. Slowly destroying what Earth we do have left. Before we know it, we will be gone. Mother Nature will have wiped us out and She will slowly nurture herself back to health. But we, humans, shall be gone forever.

Unless, that is, another life form travels here to save us. We are solely dependent on an extraterrestrial life form that will either save us or wipe us out before the misery finally sets in.

Otherwise, it is only a matter of time. Florida will no longer be a peninsula, but rather a landmass covered by the rising sea levels. Give it 100-150 years and our children’s grandchildren will see. Or will they? Many questions remain.

All I know is that this is inevitable. The globe is not doing enough to sustain its rapidly growing population. More people equals more stress. More resources needed to fulfill daily necessities. Resources that are finite.

Water will run dry. We are already witnessing water crises in places around the world. CO2 levels rising at uncontrollable levels create a stew which acts as a ticking time bomb for human life. All of our habits, which must be broken to sustain life, are not being broken. We have time to slow the trend-

But we must act fast. Collective action must be taken. I want it to happen, but am doubtful due to the nature of the overarching beast we have created. It is human-driven.

A scary thought, but one that must be looked at with seriousness and realistic intentions.
