My experience playing online #2: Shaiya + Review

There are many reasons to prefer online games to offline ones, one of the main reasons could be the competitive situation that often occurs in online videogames, as well as the incredible socialization capacity of some videogames. No matter what kind of game it is, I am sure that we are always looking for someone to socialize with in the videogame, since good friendships are forged there, although we almost never get to know these people physically.

Shaiya is a MMORPG created by SonoV Entertainment and distributed by Aeria Games and Entertainment in 2007, mainly for the Microsoft Windows operating system, it is currently compatible with most of the operating systems available.

The success of Shaiya in his time was so great, that as in the most successful video games, a group of people managed to copy the game and create their own versions, adding details that simplify the gameplay of the game. One of the main reasons why this happened is that in the official Shaiya they added many VIP aspects that allowed users who donated money to have a great advantage over those who did not have the possibility to donate (Pay to win).

Shaiya is a fairly complete game in terms of gameplay, somehow from the beginning we realize that our initial work is to serve a goddess, it is important to make a good choice of goddess, race and territory, and in some way our decision it will be essential to know what our position in the broad community of Shaiya and its history will be.

Difficulties


In Shaiya there are (or there were) 4 game difficulties, this with the intention that users can create a character in an accessible difficulty mode and that they can learn to play, after that they can access a more difficult game mode with the intention to enjoy more of the game. The difficulty defines the amount of maximum characteristic points that a character can have.

Easy mode: This mode is one of the least used, since it becomes very limited, it is basically a tutorial with the possibility of witnessing everything that happens in Shaiya, it works perfectly to learn to play and know the maps.

  • You get 5 characteristic points and 3 skill points for each level reached.
  • The maximum level for a character is 30.
  • You can not create or join any guild.
  • You can not equip Atrocious, Legendary or Goddess objects.

Normal mode: It could be said that most players start playing this mode, I am one of them, since I have the bad habit of never opening the tutorials presented by video games. I want to go directly to the action! The truth is that this game mode has access to everything, which makes it the most used.

  • You get 5 characteristic points and 3 skill points for each level reached.
  • You can not equip Legendary or Goddess objects.

Hard mode: It could be said that this mode is the second most used after the normal mode, since it has access to more things and the characteristic points obtained are much higher, although it has the disadvantage that it is much more complicated level to upload, since more experience points are required than in the modes mentioned above.

  • You get 7 characteristics points and 4 skill points for each level reached.
  • You can not equip Goddess objects.

Maximum mode: I would say that this is the least used mode, since it has literally lethal characteristics, since we could lose all our progress if we do not act responsibly while playing. We need to pay the membership to play this mode, since there are runes that allow us to maintain the character. To level up you need even more experience points than in hard mode.

  • You get 9 characteristics points and 5 skill points for each level reached.
  • You can equip any type of objects.
  • If the character dies and does not resurrect in time, you lose all your progress unless you have membership runes.

Races and Classes


Each race has different characteristics and roles, although regardless of the goddess we defend there will always be someone on the other team with the same skills as you so that everything is more balanced. One could say that from the beginning we will know what our roles will be in the wars to overthrow the altars of the rival goddess.

The races that serve the goddess "Light" are the Human and the Elf, while the races that serve the goddess "Darkness" are the Nordein and the Vail. The physical differences between the races are very broad, since in theory they inherit the customs of their respective goddess.

Fighter (Human) / Warrior (Nordein)

They have good damage and good resistance, you could say that they are the strongest characters when it comes to individuality, however, as a team they tend to decrease a bit since their damage is almost always towards a single goal, ideal for those looking to be independent.

In wars always goes to the front but very pending to defend the back when you need it, even has a skill that allows you to kill yourself to beat a rival.

Defender (Human) / Guardian (Nordein)

They have a great resistance but a fairly low damage, is the most required character to level up, since it has the ability to absorb the damage of multiple creatures while their partners finish with them, it is very good for those who want to be requested and goes up the fast level.

In wars they are the ones who always start the battles, because their resistance allows them to endure a lot of damage while the warriors, magicians and archers approach from behind causing an impressive damage, generally tending to sacrifice themselves by their companions.

Priest (Human) / Oracle (Vail)

Their protection and healing abilities are impressive, they are characterized by acting as support in team battles, being able to stop, heal and provide protection to the members of their team, although their individual damage is very low.

In wars they are always left behind, but very close to the warriors and guardians, since their job is to provide protection and healing when necessary, in addition to trying to resurrect them whenever possible so as not to lose troops in battle.

Ranger (Elf) / Assassin (Vail):

Being furtive and fast are its main characteristics and the damage they have is quite good but its resistance is low, it has a series of abilities that allow you to camouflage and if it is necessary to place traps, it is ideal to go unnoticed and go for the weakest.

In wars, they tend to use camouflage and go to inspect rival areas to warn their allies when it is the best time to attack, plus they can place traps on the road for when enemies approach. Kill the wizards or oracles of the rival team so that they do not cause so many problems.

Archer (Elf) / Hunter (Nordein)

Literally, luck is your best ally, since critical hits are those that can save you from death, they are very fast and have an impressive distance damage, but your damage is reduced by half when your rivals are too close.

In wars we always seek to pursue the warriors and guardians to ensure a clean shot without approaching any opponent that causes discomfort, it is very common to go from one place to another in search of damaging the oracles and rival wizards.

Wizard (Elf) / Pagan (Vail)

Like the priest, these characters find it very difficult to defend themselves because their resistances are extremely low, any creature with good damage could even defeat you in one fell swoop, on the other hand the damage they have is extremely wide, besides being able to achieve damage to multiple objectives at the same time.

In wars are the most protected and sought after characters for their incredible damage, these characters could easily defeat a multitude of enemies, as long as no rival approaches the interruption of their spells.

Missions


In most online games, we tend to have the bad habit of never following the chronology of the missions and go directly to the action in search of adenaline and a rapid advance in the levels of our character, unfortunately in Shaiya that is a Very bad option, unless you have someone to provide equipment and help you level up quickly.

From my point of view, the missions that Shaiya has are extremely necessary and appropriate for anyone who is just starting to play, since these give us many benefits when we talk about equipment, knowledge and strengthening our character.

The missions can vary in difficulty both in its fulfillment and in its obtaining, since the game even has hidden missions that we will only find if we are good at exploring unknown areas, the missions generally provide us with good quality equipment and allow us to meet other players , since help is often needed.

It is likely that one of the reasons why we choose to play an MMORPG is because we love teamwork and meet new people, in Shaiya quickly get allies is a fundamental requirement for anyone who wants to move forward and strengthen quickly perhaps with the intention of being part of the troops that go to the PvP to defend their goddess.

The combinations of the characters that Shaiya has are very well elaborated, that's why it's a very good idea to tell your friends that from the beginning they use a good combination of characters. For example, there is a lethal combination for PvM that consists of combining a magician, a priest and a defender; The defender is responsible for gathering the enemies and tolerating their blows with the help of the priest, while the wizard eliminates the creatures.

There are three PvP zones that we can access at level 15, level 30 and level 60. The goal in all areas is always the same but the maps change. In this case, something very similar to films like Narnia and the Lord of the Rings, where the enemy troops can take shape in front of your castle and weaken your defenses, but you can always gather a large crowd of players to defend.

The races of Light and Darkness can only be seen in areas of PvP and peaceful zones of commerce, that is to say that from the beginning we must serve a goddess and the only characters and maps that we will see are those whose races are the corresponding, imagine the rivalry that It is created from one side and the other. Defeating the altars of the Goddess in the areas of PvP becomes an incredible necessity, since even that has its benefits called "blessing of the Goddess".

Each character since its inception in the PvP acquires a rank that is increasing according to the number of faithful to the enemy goddess who has defeated, the rank give benefits to our character, both visually and in strength. Each time we increase in rank we can go to the main militia to claim some characteristic points that we can add to our character and distribute them as we want, so defeating the rivals becomes fundamental for the strength of our character.

The amount of players currently is much lower than a few years ago, this because the game was completely balanced in terms of objects that could be paid with real money and those that could be obtained through missions and defeating monsters. It could be said that because special objects were added with real money, the advantage of some players in PvP increased considerably since you can improve your character and end up dominating any PvP area where there is not a worthy opponent with the same wallet.

I am absolutely sure that one of the most positive aspects of Shaiya is his impressive PvP, since the adrenaline and excitement of running with your teammates to defeat the enemy troops is extremely good, anyone who has seen war movies will know how valuable it is to feel strong emotions.

It did not know this game, neither I saw it in another publication. It sounds very interesting. I like of the classes that allows that to be changed the game and to be able to adapt itself in the style of the player.
