I decided to choose a page inspired by Frida Kahlo. Frida is one of my favorite artists. Not so much because of her artistic talent but because of who she was. To those who aren't familiar with this amazing Mexican artist, Frida painted mostly to express her pain. She had polio as a child and her right leg was considerably shorter due to the disease. And when she was 18 years old she was involved in a horrific bus accident that ended her dreams of becoming a doctor. Frida was badly injured, her abdomen was impaled by a handrail and broke several bones. One of the treatments required was for her to wear a full body cast. Frida was suffering from chronic pain and she couldn't move much other than lying on her bed. Bored with nothing much to do, Frida decided to paint, mostly self-portraits.

And also Frida is a very stylish lady! She invented her own fashion and I just adore her Mexican dresses. She was always prim and proper but this is one of my favorite photos of Frida. A cigarette on her fingers, hair all down, and I-couldn't-care-less-attitude ;)
