ENJOY THE MOMENT YOU HAVE NOW

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Have regular hours for work and play; make each day both useful and pleasant, and prove that you understand the worth of time by employing it well. Then youth will be delightful, old age will bring few regrets, and life will become a beautiful success. Louisa May Alcott

I watched him closely and noticed a sense of loneliness. Perhaps most his childhood friends are already dead and with many years gone by he has also lost contact with many close friends. He was mostly confined in his room and hardly come out, he couldn't connect with even some old guys around, he rarely spend time to play some of his favourite games, I guess it was due to reduced manual dexterity and less interest, the pleasures of life now means nothing to him.

He looked so worried and tired wishing the toll of death would just come and take him away from this miserable life of pain where everything is meaningless to him.
My grandpa died well advanced in years, at the age of 110, I believe he might have prayed to God that "I'm tired oh God, please take away my life". The man was not getting stronger and better anymore to still enjoy life.....hmmm, so sad.

Have you ever tried giving an advice to older people, or even tried cautioning them? If you have then I'm sure you will agree with me that, "they are mostly stubborn". It is often interesing when you come into contact with old people, their years of experience has made them what I call, "the know it all". They feel they have had enough of this life and have come across many things and so whatever you have to say is like a 'repetition'.

Advice in old age is foolish; for what can be more absurd than to increase our provisions for the road the nearer we approach to our journey's end. Marcus Tullius Cicero

Their years of experience indeed has been impactful in terms of their wisdom but then it also become a challenge to them. It doesn't give them the chance learn new things anymore, as a result a new idea you would wish they consider is snub or even has to be reconsidered carefully. May be is like a class one pupil trying to educate a graduate from the university.

They are isolated from the normal ways of life. This life of experiencing isolation is what makes many fear growing old. I guess is a reality that awaits all some day to come. A withdrawal from many activities you have found interesting can be really unpleasant. My grandpa was a good and a skillful dancer but couldn't do so now. A withdrawal from social activities has eventually led to loneliness.

Age does take it out of you, and I haven't the energy I had before. Sometimes I have breakfast and sit in this chair, and I wake up and it is lunchtime. In the past, the idea of sleeping through a morning would have horrified me, but you have to accept the limitations that old age imposes on you. Tony Benn

Many old folks battle health issues like depression, pains, weak bones and often cause them to become more dependant and be supported all the time.

That's life, so many unbearable and unpredictable issues awaiting everyone. Nobody would like to die young but then old age too is frowned upon. The saddest time in life is when nothing impresses you anymore, you have no delight to still pursue and achieve anymore. This is why the moment we have now must be used judiciously and must be a memorable one.

I have met people who complain about their situation thinking they are the ones life has been unfair to. If you think your situation is bad someone else's is worse.

The best thing we can do is to appreciate every moment we have...I believe this is the gift of God.

I agree that we need to appreciate everyone moment we have. I think you need to meet more aged individuals. I know a great circle of them who embrace the new and keep on learning as long as they can take a breath. One example is my uncle who will be 96 in a few days and has embraced the computer and the internet in the last few years. Never under estimate the old farts.

wow! good to hear, some too would not embrace any change especially when it doesn't fit in what they value or believe but your uncle is really doing great at his age, forever young.. lol, that's great

Well said, I fully agree with you @collinz 👍. We must appreciate every moment in life, for we are getting older each day and there is no time to waste in regret. 😊

I'm glad you share the same thoughts with me and thanks for reading.

I am trying this brother @collinz just want to be happy with Gods word in my heart. But often times when troubled comes oh noh.. thanks

Just avail yourself to the God, you know? it is not by might nor by power but his spirit, keep that in mind

Yes, agree 100% that you should live every moment at full, since they may never come back. Just today I was walking with my father. He was always strong and role model for me - sportsman from his youngest days, never ill or tired. But today, in middle of our walk, he ask me to sit down and rest. He told me that he cannot keep pace with me anymore... he become old. With smile we agreed that we are not going to play football anymore, but we can play some board games instead :)
Life is beautiful, don't spend it on wrong persons or wrong goals. Be with your family, enjoy time with people you love and smell the flowers. Always smell the flowers!

great comment, life is indeed beautiful and we have to live it right, thank you very much @dejan.vuckovic

It's interesting to think about life from the perspective of the old people. It's the future for anyone lucky enough to make it. I'm only 32 and often I find myself already feeling old.

nicely written, and yes gratitude is key to being happy

thanks dear for reading
