"Yale economics professor Robert Shiller won the Nobel prize for his work on bubbles. Shiller: The best example right now is bitcoin. And I think that has to do with the motivating quality of the bitcoin story."

Wow, this guy must be an expert on Bitcoin. What about the national debt of the US? Seems like that is a bubble ready to implode. Here's the number:

What about the current stock market and the lofty p/e ratios?

You can't discount that Shiller is a brilliant economists, but something in the above story is suspect. Take a look at one of the questions asked of Shiller:

"Have you by any chance looked at initial coin offerings?

No, what is an initial coin offering?"

So he's an expert on bubbles, and now on Bitcoin, but he doesn't know what an ICO is?

Please, find me an expert, or even an amateur, that doesn't know what an ICO is, or what drove the price of Bitcoin down this weekend.

He's a main stream media guy so of course he will say nevagitve things about cryptos. After all they compete with the central banking system.

I think his age also has an impact on his choice of words. Boomers will be reluctant to switch to any sort of digital currency. But, the fact is trade is no longer across adjacent borders. It is global, so the way currency is exchanged needs to be updated.
