6/20/2020 Entry to the Steemit Diary Game - An international end to senior week!

in #thediarygame4 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone! This is my entry for yesterday! Yesterday was a bit of a wind down from the busy week, and not too much happened. I will still cover everything here. Let's get into my life!

My Life

I woke up at 9am yesterday. I spent an hour watching YouTube videos before really getting out of bed. At 10am, my father (@remlaps) texted me. He was out running errands, but he didn't think he'd be able to make it to the vet before they closed to pick up Blitz's dog food. So I drove to the vet, and called them to purchase the dog food. I meant to take a picture of how beautiful the sky was, but I did not remember to.

When I got home, I ate breakfast, and watched YouTube. Emma and I were supposed to play bed wars at noon, but her family had an emergency. She was not able to play until 12:45pm. In that time, I began writing the diary post (though I didn't have the pictures), and played some solo bedwars. While playing bedwars, I listened to a playlist of Disney music. That was fun (though I lost a lot). . .

At 12:45pm, Emma was able to play, so we played for a bit. She kept going afk though, so I played a different game for a while.

At 2pm, it came time for a call. This call was a special end to senior week because it included our friend who was sent back to Germany, Hinrich (@haihin1). For the first part of the call, we all just talked. Then we played a game that is like pictionary called Sribbleio. That game annoyed me because I suck at art (@jellyott85 would not have approved). I lost a lot!

Around 3:30pm, one of our friends had to leave. So Emma, Bridget, Hinrich, and I played a different game that was kind of a matching game. Bridget's internet was flaky though, so that did not last long. We went back to playing Scribbleio. I did a little bit better, but I was angry because Emma did better than me once again. I should have screenshotted some of the drawings. Whoops. I should also have screenshotted the group call. Double whoops. I'm gonna have to find something to include in this post. Lesson is: take pictures. It is easier to remember in person.

It was really nice talking to everyone! Especially Hinrich! I am glad that things are getting better in Germany, and that he is doing well in school!

After the call was over, I learned the hymns for this week's church service. I then texted about the prom photos, and did not receive them. I decided to take a nap, but failed. I just sat there for about 20 minutes, and then decided to go work on the diary entry some more even though I didn't have pictures yet.

Eventually (around 6:30pm), I got the pictures. I then realized that I had the videos to edit. Around 7:00pm, I was pretty far in the post, and realized that half of it had somehow been deleted. I don't know if it was my fault or the editor's, but I was really sad. So I had to write it all again.

Then I had to wait for all the videos to download, so my dad and I drove to Unos to pick up a pizza (for me) for dinner. We then drove to Carmines to pick up a Pizza (for them) for dinner. We were celebrating something that my dad recently did.

After dinner, it was 9pm, and the videos had downloaded, so I edited them together. I was really disappointed at how it came out (I thought it was only pixely because of the editor. It turns out that was the actual video quality). I finished the post, and posted it.

I then saw @steemcurator01's comment about recruiting some of my friends, so I sent them a text. They actually all seemed interested, and I might have some joining soon. After I am done this post, I intend to send a similar text to anyone who I have made an account for (and given it to), or anyone who has made their own account that I know. My hook was pretty good for my three friends last night:

Anyway, I have had a few friends express interest in joining. I hope they follow through, and list me as their recruiter!

I then decided to go to bed. I did not want to feel tired today because of waking up early for church. I actually succeeded at going to bed quite early. You will have to wait until today's entry to learn if I succeeded at not being tired. The last cliffhanger that was this suspenseful was when I lost that ring. See you later!

Also, on a side note, I saw that Steemit asked for the first part of the title to be "The Diary Game", but I have been doing the titles exactly the same (except for the end) for each entry. I am curious if I must alter my "template", or if I can just keep it the same.

Thank you for taking part in The Diary Game on Steem.

Your titles are fine. Good luck with the recruiting!

The Steemit Team

Gee false expectations much? 100 dollars a week is definitely NOT average on Steemit for most beginner users - and definitely not the average competitor of #thediarygame. Get your friends in, but don't inflate their expectations until they understand how it the earnings are cumulative and build up over time. The idea is for people to join and stay active.

First of all, I am sorry if you are angry.

Second of all, I did not say that that is an average. I said it is what I have been making, and it is including curation rewards. Everyone in my life knows about Steem, and they know I have been on it for four years. I would argue that that statement is actually a motivator to stay active. Some people even asked me if it is the average, and I said "no." The point was to demonstrate the capabilities of Steem, and to try to hype up the diary game.

Everyone in my life knows about Steem too - but I don't want anyone to come in with false hopes because for me it is a dream killer. I knew when I started up again this year that it was going to be a long hard grind to the finish. Anyways, as long as you are being real to people about the work they have to put in...that is my only concern. You have a lot of influence and power on this platform - which is great, the main thing is setting realistic expectations. I have a lot of influence and power in Colombia, but if I start setting wrong expectations for my clients and readers, they will instantly be on top of me letting me know it. It's a hazard of anything related to public content and news.

Thanks for your comments! I will definitely keep that in mind when advertising on my instagram again. You are right.

Trust me, I come from a place of deep caring. We have all become shell-shocked by the viciousness at play on Facebook et. al. - the only way to avoid it, is to try to nurture our community, plus bring in more First-worldians and their investment potential. I am actually addressing this whole issue in my topic for today (the issue of mainstream social media)
