My entry for the Steem Bangladesh Landscape Photography Challenge
For the Steem Bangladesh Landscape Photography Challenge, I offer these views of the Puget Sound and Pacific Railroad swing bridge over the Hoquiam River in Hoquiam, Wash.
Hoquiam is the western end of the line for for the PSAP railroad. Most of the traffic on the railroad unloads at the Port of Grays Harbor in Aberdeen, just to the east of the swing bridge. Consequently, the bridge is used infrequently (there's a small rail yard on the western side where they store a few empty cars), and most of the time it stands open, as we see in the photo above, to allow boats to pass.
The bridge crosses the river near its mouth, where it meets the bay of Grays Harbor. You can see where the river meets the bay on the horizon in the first photo.
The rest of these photos were taken on the opposite side of the bridge (but on the same side of the river), looking back towards town. Beacon Hill serves as a backdrop.
In this one, you can see the bridge closed across the river.
This final shot was taken at a distance, from along the bay just past the mouth of the river. The bridge is closed in this shot as well.
