Home Tips #12 – Home Sweet Home!
GENERAL ODOURS:
Kitchen Sink
Wipe down the entire sink with undiluted vinegar, (great for removing water spots too) then pour one cup of vinegar down the drain. Wait one hour before rinsing.
Rugs and Carpets
Sprinkle your rugs or carpets with baking soda. Wait at least 15 minutes, a little would be longer is better, then vacuum.
Refrigerator
To prevent odours in your refrigerator, place an open container of baking soda inside. Change it every three months. You can also sprinkle baking soda in the crisper drawers and cover it with a paper towel. Renew every three months.
Laundry
Stubborn smells in your laundry? Try adding 1 cup of baking soda to the next load. It helps to brighten your whites as well as getting rid of the smell.

Baking soda is so universal as well as the vinegar. We used them both for cleaning. But I did not know about the fridge, I will try the hint.
it really works well even in the fridge @nelinoeva
Hello nice little tips vinaigre and bicarb are always good to use to clean up i didn't k ow you can put a container in the fridge for the smell:)
you only use the baking soda in the fridge @drawmeaship, so no smell at all!
It's always fun to read your post on tips @claudiaz!
glad you enjoy them @joelai
Yes I always do!
:)
Love this! I use both baking soda and vinegar often in my cleaning, as well. That and castile soap. So much cheaper than the chemical-laden junk in the store, too!
100 % agree with you there @plantstoplanks
Baking soda has always been a lifesaver!
yes indeed it is @foxyspirit, thanks for visiting
Soda can treat the throat)) Universal thing)))
yes it does thanks for the reminder @amalinavia
I'm already doing some of these, like the ones with baking soda. It's good to know the others, too! Thanks for the tips! 😊
my pleasure @thekittygirl
Love all the great ideas. Where do you come up with all this?
Oh, and would the baking soda on the carpet be safe with a cat around? I wouldn't let him walk on it, but I'm sure I wouldn't be able to vacuum every bit of it up.
yes, it should not cause any problems for any animals. @mattifer
Perfect, thanks. It's probably about time to baking powder my carpets then. :-)
