A vehicle Tire Service Technician is popularly known in Nigeria as a Vulcanizer. This is one among the many technicians who work on cars. The job of a Vulcanizer revolves around the car tires and wheels. Most tire service technician in Nigeria are found by the road side, a very small percentage have converted the same job into a luxurious service, attaching themselves to gas station (fueling stations) and using as much automation as possible in delivering the service. The Vulcanizer by the road will offer you the following services:

inflate deflate tires

Some times your tires may loos it's internal pressure if parked in the open on a very sunny day, or the activity of young children who seem to enjoy the sound of escaping air when they deflate your tires.
You will pay 100 Naira to get each tire inflated and gauged correctly. Inflating tire are the most common task perform many times in a single day.

Installs new tires

When your tires are wear out and looses it's grip of the road, a vulcanizer will help you buy good tires and can identify the right type that will match the others. They will help fit it to your wheels and to your car. Excluding the cost of buying the tires, a local road side vulcanizer will fit in each tire at the cost of 400 Naira each. [2.67 Steem]

Installs new wheels/repairs

To improve the esthetics of your car, you may wish to upgrade the type of wheels on your car to alloy wheels. A vulcanizer can help you buy and fix the wheels. They also work on wheels that have been damaged due to collusion or encounters with potholes. You are likely to spend an amount proportional to the level of damage sustained by the wheel.

Performs maintenance on tires

It's also the job of a vulcanizer to patch up punctures tires which may come as a result of nails/sharp objects on the road or the result of vandalism.
You may also experience an air leaks which occurs with time, air may escape through the area where the tire seals against the wheel. Sometimes the leak is as a result of a faulty valve. Tires that have passes it's expiry date may experience a leak due to age.
