Creative writing: POWER OF RESILIENCE by @christnenye

Christian is a proof that it's possible to remain resilience through challenges and become successful in your profession and happy with life. Christian now an international business man that travels around the world making deals with spare parts company in China, Turkey, and so many other companies, but if one told christian this would happen years ago, when he was still an apprentice, he wouldn’t have believed.

Christian grew up in eastern part of Nigeria in a family of four, his parent and his sister but the sister been the eldest. They were living happily as family until the auto crash that took his parent and sister which made him an orphan. Still a young boy the relatives sent him to become an apprentice to a wealthy man in lagos after conspiring to sell his father's assets.

On reaching lagos and staying for a month with the wealthy man christian found out the man source of wealth was dubious but he continued staying with him until one very night when he was asleep, he noticed a hand touching him on opening his eyes, his boss was with a machete and signalling him to keep quiet. Christian knelt down on the bed and started begging for his life.

"You're an orphan rejected by your relatives, so if I kill you nobody will question me about you" -said the boss

"Sir please spare my life"-Christian pleaded with tears.

The two continued struggling with each other when Christian hit him with a small bottle of soft drink he drank when he came back from the market that very evening, his boss felled and Christian used the opportunity to run for his life.
He was running but didn't know where he was heading to until he saw an uncompleted building which he ran into.

Not to long that he settled in the uncompleted building a group of boys of his age came into the building with guns, machete, axe and saw him, they were happy since they were looking for more boys to initiate into their cult group to help in fighting an opposite cult group who killed one of their members. Christian became confused and distressed on what he is passing through from his boss now to cult group. The cult group in oblivion of his thought commanded him to move into the circle they formed so they can initiate him.

"I am an orphan who was sent to lagos to become an apprentice after my relatives sold off my parents assets, I came to lagos and was serving my boss but while I was sleeping earlier this evening he tried to kill me but I escaped. Please spare my life I don't want to be initiated"- narrated by Christian in tears.

"Your tears wouldn't stop us and stop wasting our time"- the leader shouted at him.

The second to the leader whispered to him to allow Christian be for the night, that in the forth night he will be initiated. Christian was spared that night and not too long the cult boys went to sleep, the second in command approached Christian and told him to run for his life.

"Just in one night, I am passing through all these"- christian said to himself while running.

He continued running till he came to a small house and knocked while praying in his heart that the person staying there should be kindhearted to allow him pass the night. God answered him and an elderly woman came out, she saw how distressed christian was and opened the door for him, after asking him series of questions.

In the morning, Christian thanked the woman for her hospitality and started walking till he met a shop were satchet water is sold, he pleaded with owner to give him the satchet water on credit that he would return the capital after each sell. The owner agreed and even allowed him sleeping over in the shop after each sale.

Christian kept selling the satchet water until one day he came across his father's friend who after telling him that he inquired from his relatives his whereabouts but they were speaking gibberish took him in as an apprentice but this time as a son too and after six months, he was made the manger.

Days turned into months and months into years, Christian mastered his father's friend trade and he was set up, he was not only set up but he was introduced to the international companies where the spare parts good was bought from on credit and after selling the capital is returned.

After sometime, Christian became very wealthy that he travels around the world making deals with spare parts companies this time around not on credit. It was on one of his visit to his home town that he summoned his relative who sold his father's assets with police men and they were all arrested.

Christian was on the plane travelling as usual, and was amazed at where an orphan like him who was almost killed by his first boss then the cult group and him selling satchet water to meeting his father's friend will be sitting in first class plane.

"Truly only with resilience was I able to achieve this"- Christian said to himself.

Moral lesson

When life throws its challenges on one, when all this hits one at once, it can be hard to believe one will ever manage all the challenges, much less end up successful and happy. Only with resilience will this be possible.

Successful and happy life requires resilience.
