LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT DECADE...HAPPY TO LEAVE 20'S

So here I am... I am someone who can finally connect with the statement: “Life Is Short”. Earlier this year my twenty seven decided to pass by and I'm nearly thirties. It was like a gust of wind… I felt it, but then it was gone. Truly as you age, you must understand this more and more.

Life is short.

But it is funny really. I don’t think I could ever look at “life passing by” in a negative connotation. I guess over the years and through experiences, I have been constantly reminded…

Life is a gift… Appreciate it.

But speaking of that. I feel one of the greatest gifts of all is our ability to experience, learn, and share. We have this unique ability as people to be able to share our lives with one and other… our thoughts, our feelings, and our beliefs. Does that mean they will be right? Absolutely not. Because with so much diversity in this world, what is right for me… may not be right for you.

But that should never stop one from sharing.

And so right now I just want to share something with you that I learned about my twenties…

Growing up now in a technological age, it is so easy to allow ourselves to be distracted. What do I mean about that? Well we are now part of a world that is so easy to connect with… it is beautiful really. But at the same time, all that connection can be the ultimate distraction…

“Should I do this? Should I do that? Look at this! Wow I want to try that! Maybe I should be this? Or wait a minute… Is that right for me?”

I could go on and on with thoughts like this… Why? Because I have felt them all. You see, in this technological world, I believe we are even more susceptible to question ourselves. Because everyday we see more, we connect more, and we feel more… All of which is going to make us question ourselves more. And you know where that is going to get scary?

When we try to commit to something.

Committing completely to something... it is hard! Especially in this day and age… where so much is out there distracting us.

yes indeed commitment is hard but if you see it as an art in progress all the difficulties, hardships and challenges makes us braver, bolder, better and more beautiful human beings, and that is the purpose of commitment to become kinder, wiser greater. And that i think cmmitment is a great thing to experience in life. All in all, I’ve started to own my “extroverted introversion” — and explain to people close to me how important my alone time is to me. I’ve also started to schedule my own down time, along with work and social obligations, and I can’t even explain how much I look forward to it.

I guess standing here now, twenty seven years old, I just wanted to say…Don’t be afraid to commit to something. Even in your twenties.

The best feeling I ever found in my twenties was complete commitment and dedication to one thing…

All of this is to say: Thirties, I’m ready for ya. I’m ready for whatever you bring — with optimism, gratitude, a clearer head on my shoulders, and a stronger belief in myself.
