WOX TRAVEL CONTEST | St. Wolfgang - The pearl of Upper Austria

in WORLD OF XPILAR11 months ago
The small, romantic journey began with an advertisement. In fact, I'm sick of commercials on TV. Some love story, crime story and chat ads are just getting tangled up! You're just hanging in the air... Every ad emphasizes how miserable, ugly and stupid you are and you need to buy a car or something to be happy, to date edi-what are you to be beautiful. I, on the other hand, am convinced that every person without exception is beautiful, unique and unique, that happiness and joy are inside the person and do not come from outside. Advertising temptations make us unhappy, dissatisfied, envious... but that's another topic. Well, pirates of the caribbean - chat - commercials. I slip out of my comfort zone to satisfy some bodily needs and skip the commercials and I hear - the cog railway will take you up the Scharfberg mountain and where - in St. Wolfgang. Wow, this fall offer is not to be missed.

The weather on Sunday is kind to us. Instead of blizzards typical of the Alps, the sun smiles amiably, peering curiously through the few clouds. Pleasantly excited, I embark on the journey.

Sankt Wolfgang is one of the most tempting places for tourists from all over the world - the pearl of the famous Wolfgangsee lake, the pearl of Upper Austria. Located on the northern shore of the lake, at the foot of the Scharfberg mountain, the village attracts tourists, inspires artists and filmmakers with its magnificent nature, clean lake water, romantic streets, richly decorated houses, luxury hotels, attractive entertainment... well, a lot of things.

In the center of the village stands the "Walfarskirche", translated as "Place of Worship", with its thousand-year-old dignity. According to tradition, many pilgrims came here to pray on Saint Valentine's Day and to be healed. Outside the church, there is a fountain with healing water - the "Fountain of the Pilgrims".

At a small railway station, the cog railway patiently waits to take tourists to the Scharfberg mountain /1783 m/. The machine has been running up and down for 115 years. We settle into the wooden wagons and head full steam ahead. The locomotive purrs at 10-20 km per hour. One has enough time to enjoy the magnificent nature. Lake Wolfgang with an area of 13.5 square kilometers, surrounded by mountains and forests, shines bathed in the sun.

The promenade of St. Wolfgang picturesquely winds around the lake, a place for romantic walks. White swans, wild ducks and elegant passenger ships swim in the lake. A few daredevils bathe in an outdoor pool. The promenade takes us to the central streets. Tourists from all over the world peek into the bazaars, sip drinks, eat delicacies. Smells of vanilla, roasted chestnuts and crumbs. Only there are no kebabs. I settle for bratwurst /baked sausages/, coffee and lebkuchen /traditional pastry/.

It's getting dark. The mood reigns. Nostalgic, romantic and beautiful. It turns out that there is something practical, something good in the ads after all. But for me it's just the ads related to tourism and travel.

It sounds like you had a wonderful and picturesque journey to Sankt Wolfgang! Sometimes, advertisements for travel and tourism can indeed lead to beautiful experiences. It's a reminder that there can be something practical and good in certain ads, especially when they inspire us to explore new places and create lasting memories. Thank you for participating

Every ad emphasizes how miserable, ugly and stupid you are and you need to buy a car or something to be happy

The words of Baz Luhrmann in his song "wear suncreen"

Don't read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly!

So yes - spot on in that respect!

Hi @charter :) Nice to meet you!

This is such a lovely post!!! Your photos are a wonderful visual feast - you clearly have a very creative eye for capturing a moment in time so that it embodies the energy of that snippet in time.
