Golden Hour Photography Challenge - Week 25 | "Capture, Click, Compete!" | Golden sea sunset
It was late January and winter was coming to an end. A cold winter had passed and the land looked like a wasteland at the end of the dry season. I thought about why I was here. This was not my home. My home was hundreds of kilometers to the east. And I wasn't there. I was here. And here it was far. Why had I come here, at the end of the known earth? And I myself did not understand the exact reason. I just remembered that something had made me go. Maybe out of boredom. Maybe because I was looking for adventure. And maybe just like that.
I looked again at the setting sun. It was now ready to dive into the deep shimmering indigo, and it seemed somehow larger and less ferocious. It was like a big orange ball seen through a haze. Several seabirds circled around him as if to send him off, to see him one last time before he left the sky. There was a kind of exquisite melancholy about the whole picture. I was simultaneously sad for the passing and dying day and glad for the coming coolness of the night. It was as if the sun itself would extinguish its fire in the depths of the sea and be reborn anew and pure in the night moon. The water would not be able to kill all the light of the lamp, but would only make it more gentle and refined, without steaming and without burning.
A small smile crossed my face. I was surprised at my thought. After the sunset finished its performance, I stood up, picked up a small stone from the ground and threw it with all my might toward the sea, waited for it to tumble down, and when it did I turned back, mounted the wheel, and, still smiling, I started for home.
I want to dedicate this moment and story to my friend @jaynie, with whom I think we have quite a lot in common thoughts and feelings related to sea sunsets 🙂
