Theory Without Practical Knowledge

in #aws5 years ago

Reading the AWS material, it reminds me a lot of when i was studying for the "A" level exams. There's a lot of theory but not a lot of practical experience to back that up with. I think it's completely possible to get a perfect score on the exams without even knowing what one is doing.

I suppose all exams are like that to an extent. It would be nice though if practical knowledge could be given a weight in the exams. Hard to do unless there are binary outputs to test for.

It's at times like these, i'm thinking i should explore the analytics option instead. A lot more hands on and practical with the opportunity to create a portfolio without requiring any purchases or subscriptions. Tough choices to make for sure.

That's the worst when you can ace the exam without knowing any practical skills. It makes the whole experience feel worthless

That's true... which explains a lot of the complaints that employers have.
