I Wish I Could Talk More Intelligently About Steemit and Cryptocurrencies

I just attempted explaining the concept of cryptocurrencies, blockchains, and Steemit to a co-worker who, despite my **very** shaky explanation, I'm sure will be joining Steemit ASAP. What better way to learn than to teach, right? I struggled my way through an explanation and answered his questions the best I could. What I couldn't answer, I of course directed him here to Steemit to search up articles.

Anyway, this made me realize that I need to stuff some basic Steemit knowledge into this little pea brain of mine. 

If you don't mind, please reply in the comments with advice or links to relevant Steemit articles that will help me get an overview of how I can improve my presence here. I'm a mom and I work fulltime without a lot of time to sit here and sift through articles all day. A comments section with "the best of the best" would be so helpful to me and perhaps others who stumble upone this post.
