Pencil Drawing of Original Characters | 2018 | Sketchbook
Good morning, everyone!
This morning I want to share these two drawings with you, because I remember how proud I was of them back in september of 2018 when I was drawing them!
These may seem really weird or on the horror side ( just like most of my original characters look like ), but to me they were never like this, and I never draw these thinking I want them to look a certain way ( like horror or weird or anything at all ). I just see them as characters I find really interesting and who have a story behind them, who are being themselves no matter what others see them as, they are them and that's all. They're not pretty, they're not beautiful, they're not ugly, they are just them. That's why I really love creating random new characters, it feels like I am getting to meet knew beings and getting to know their story.
It's such a fun process really! There is nothing I love more in this world than creating these~
As for the story behind these two. The first one, the one above, I made it after I was eating an apple and this idea came to my mind of this character that is collecting fruits but also fishes or creatures, and eats them.
This one just came to mind after looking at a plant I had in my room, and as many may know already, I really love nature so I always get inspired by it, and this too was inspired by it. A frog-kinda-creature whose purpose in life is to take care of pretty plants in its home by the lake.
Another aspect of my art I want to talk about is that I usually ( I'd say around 99% ) never box any of my characters in a gender, they are gender neutral. It's really rare when I think before or after drawing that I want to character to be a gender or another. I just want them to be them, it is like they know themselves what or who they are and I don't want to get into their personal space and respect them just as they are! ( if it makes sense, but that is how I am thinking about them )
