Searching For Kindred Souls

This is my list of 8 Things that I want to share with you now and in the future. Things that I love to do, write about and photograph.

When I joined Steemit a few weeks ago, I had a fair idea about the sort of mark I hoped to make on this platform and the type of future content I planned to create. Now I want find my kindred souls in this awesome new community. I am looking for people I can follow, laugh with and be inspired by. So I wrote this list of 8 things (in no particular order) that are my world, my heart and the subjects of my writing.

If this list resonates with you, be sure to let me know. I want to start following some awesome content here on Steemit.

So come away with me....

1. Let's take the back road.

With a wanderlust twinkle and love of adventure, I look for quirky places, hidden haunts and pleasant jaunts. I will take you to a place a hundred people pass in a day, without even taking a second glance.  Let's take that path together, you know the one, because it was grassy and wanted wear.

2. I will take you to the source of beautiful food and things.

You can have my back stage pass. From paddock to plate, workshop to store. I seek out provenance, to make a connection with the food I choose to eat and the things I surround myself with.  I love to delve deeper and visit artisans, producers and makers. Get your fingernails dirty and discover the raw earthy talent that is worlds away from mass production.

3. Hold my hand for as long as you need to, before making your own plunge into a more creatively fulfilling life.

Dreaming of Quitting your job? I made the move four years ago. Follow my journey, learn from my mistakes and hopefully join me. We need more micro-economies, the alignment of passion and potential.  If you want to read more about how I made the move, my very first Steemit Post is a good place to start. Forging your place in this world is not always easy. I am determined to never look back. I don't want plan B. This is it. On  5 May 2012, I took up the full time job of being captain of my life and you can too!

4. I will take you with me on my daydreams.

Lets climb the Magical Faraway Tree together. I will whisper the secrets of my soul, captivated with lifes beauty. You can hear my heart burst with immense joy and sorrow. I will let you bathe in the sweet sunshine of nostaliga. A touch of whimsy to brighten your day.

5. Hey want to see something cool?

Let's be junk junkies. Upcycle with me. Join the revolution. This isn't just a hipster way of saying recycling. If you can understand the difference – you will see why I love it. Do you love it too? With a bit of love and clever ideas, we can stop simply stretching out the lifecycle of waste, and instead move them back up the supply chain. Innovation is eroding in our disposable world and I am here to put the sexy back into turning trash to treasure.

6. Let's chat, laugh and see the world through a child's eye

Identical twin daughters has been a rather epic introduction to parenthood. That first six months – Yup nuts! Somehow the crazy twin tornadoes in my life, fit in so perfectly, like it was my destiny all along. Come laugh with me (or cry) at the hilarity of life with twins and share musings on parenthood.

7. Some days I will just take you with me.

It may be a garland of quiet thoughts, or looking for shapes in the clouds. At times it is random, thought provoking or perhaps considered mundane. But I will show you anyway. It might just be the loveliest day out in a long time.

8. Pack your sunscreen, I want to show you my home - Australia

 I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror -
The wide brown land for me!
- Dorothea MacKellar

I have lived and traveled all over this vast beautiful country. I was born here. Australia is my home. A part of my heart will always be here somewhere between the wild bush with its granite rocks and the deep sparkling blue of the southern ocean.

So there you go.

Are you a traveling waif, wild and free, bohemian dreamer or like cups of tea. Do you enjoy pretty things but love to get dirty, are you crazy creative or secretly yearning? Do you like the off beat, drink lots of coffee, swim in the ocean and cry in a movie? Do you wear your heart on your sleeve and contemplate life? Are you practical but quirky? Do you listen to music get lost with the drums? Perhaps bake chocolate pudding and pick plums? Do you grow things from seed, walk to the shops? Like to watch sunsets and sit down and read?

But most importantly, can you see your own heart in any of this list and are you on Steemit?

Until next time

xx Isabella

What a stunningly well put together intro post,I actually got 8/8 so I'm really looking forward to reading your posts as they come through my feed.

Awesome, I will check it out :)

Check out this guy he is also a talented photogropher on steemit https://steemit.com/photography/@joelinux/we-have-a-talented-steemit-photographer

I like your picture, it's very good

Thanks @kita - I take way too many photos these days.

Super fun photo collages, with lots of surprises along the way. Pretty awesome introduction, sister. I'm signing up to be your friend immediately. :)

thanks @wildfamily. I had so much fun doing that photo collage even if I did stay up way past my bedtime and I have daughters that never sleep in. I have about 20,000 photos to rummage through and I learnt last night that I really need to order them better. Followed you back too :)

Let me know if you come up with a good system for organizing your photos. Our system works OK. We sort them into folders with a naming convention based on date, e.g. Photos/160812, and within each folder we have subfolders for "bests" and "keepers."

Australia, a beautiful country, we plan to go there next year, and drive to everywhere we can, the only thing concerns me is driving on the opposite side. Welcome

Oh you will love it @miacats. It is a huge country but driving is an awesome way to see it properly as often what is in-between your destinations will become you unexpected holiday highlight. Thanks for stopping by.

I always love your posts, such beautiful and inspiring pictures.

Aww thanks @opheliafu. Hats off to you for all your awesome drawings too. Looking for to your next post now that I am following :)

Awesome photographs and nicely put together! Well done!

I had fun doing that. It was rather time consuming as I kept getting lost down memory lane with the older photos. Following you too now :) Thanks for stopping by.

just discovering your posts- wonderful!! just what I've been looking for here on steemit, thank you!

Awww, thanks @natureofbeing. This little list I wrote has actually been really useful to help me keep my focus when creating content. As an avid maker yourself, you would appreciate the diversity of ideas that can come your way. I am more a creative maker than a writer, but I love to share on social media. Steemit has been a good way for me to consolidate online content but I didn't want my blog to be TOO random, so I made this list. Glad you liked it. I am following you too now. Gosh your mosaic work is incredible.
