River Horses in Africa

I managed to take some photos of hippopotamus while out in the bush a while back, now as I am sure most of you already know the work hippopotamus originated from Greek language and directly translates to "river horses".

Now I can not quite see any resemblance towards horses not while in the water or on land, but one comparison that I can make is that is certainly their on-land speed.

These Bulky creatures can actually reach surprising speed of 30ks/h on land.

          I've heard that these can be pretty mean animals... They look powerful and have big mouths lol...
          ive never seen them in the wild.. Great pics!

            Oh they really are, they are behind a whole lot of human deaths in South Africa. But they still remain majestic in my eyes :)
