Griffin: The mythical creature[ 1 SBD for a random upvoter]
Hello everyone. following the last post I made, today I'm gonna write about an ancient mythical creature named Griffin. ancient stuff and mythology is a quite amusing field for reading in spare time and I hope this post going to be fun and informative.
there are several signs of a griffin-like creature in many civilizations. Some of them have the head of an eagle and the body of lion like the fresco below in the "Throne Room", Palace of Knossos, Crete date back to bronze age.
Some of them like the huma bird in persepolis or those in Mesopotamia have the head of a hawk and the body of lion.
( Huma bird)
The word origin supposedly comes from Greek word γρυπός (grypos), meaning 'curved', or 'hooked'. Also, this could have been an Anatolian loanword, compare Akkadian karūbu (winged creature), and similar to Cherub. A related Hebrew word is כרוב (kerúv).(source Quoted from William H. C. Propp,Exodus 19–40, volume 2A of The Anchor Bible).
In Egypt, a griffin can be seen in a cosmetic palette from Hierakonpolis, known as the "Two Dog Palette", which is dated to ca. 3300-3100 BC.
(they are under the dogs with long neck all the way to the top of platte)

thank you @vishka. what are your thoughts?
I like the hawk head one. They may be existed before? Don't you think?
I don't know @viska. it's more like a symbolic creature to represent power.
