Florida coral reef is reported to be dying off due to bleaching rather than warming, according to recent research
Image: Wikipedia
For a long time the prevailing opinion on why the Florida Coral Reef has been in decline is that the effect of global warming. But research conducted over roughly the last 30 years seems to indicate that pollution, mostly industrial run-off into the Everglades and other South Florida bodies of water.
That is interesting because that indicates what seems to be ignored in many discussion of the environment: specifically, the notion toxic chemicals are often far more of a threat to the environment than elusive concepts such as the climate change - which has been a constant factor ever since the formation of the Earth.
