Virtual Cards, How Secure is Secure?steemCreated with Sketch.

Security is a priority for every business. As a rental property manager or owner, it is critical to establish secure processes and take the proper safeguards. If you don’t, it will not only cause revenue losses, but it could irreparably damage your business results.

That being said, the online rental and real estate industries are often primary targets for scammers and hackers. Rental businesses and hosts have to be vigilant in their security practices, and sometimes it means that you are constantly battling against new threats.

Luckily, you don’t have to do it on your own. At BookingTeam.com, we have noticed an uptick in the number of fraudulent credit card charges that are made from one-day pre-arrival bookings. As a safeguard, BookingTeam.com has stopped allowing last-minute bookings, particularly from sites with the virtual card system such as Agoda.

Why We Will No Longer Accept Last-Minute Bookings
In some cases, last-minute bookings might sound great. You may have filled a room that would have otherwise been empty and earned revenue instead of losing it. Yet, last-minute bookings are often too risky.

For instance, Agoda accepts last-minute bookings and processes the payment to the properties as a virtual card. This is a one-time use card that some rental sites emit as a security measure. However, because they use virtual cards, the time it takes to process payment is longer than other sites since they are opened up only after check-out.

In addition, if the original card used to book is stolen, property managers don’t find out about it until it's too late. Often, they are notified after a guest has already checked out, and the card charges are refunded. This means that the scammers essentially get a free stay, and the property suffers lost revenue as a result.

To protect our clients and their properties from fraudulent charges and revenue loss, BookingTeam.com has decided to stop accepting last-minute bookings within 2 days of a guests arrival and within 3 days pre-arrival if a virtual card system is used. We expect this to lower the risk of fraudulent charges significantly.

No the security problems increasing day by day we face new issue , but dnt need to be worry its a part of this new digitl era

Central banks and governments across the globe are waging a war on cash right now. They want all payments to be digital, traceable and taxable using their monopolized transaction systems. India recently banned high denomination bank notes in an effort to prevent hoarding of currency and other countries will soon follow. This is not the path we want to go down. Cash and decentralized crypto should be options available to us to transact in the future free from government control.

Lots of fear in those comments.
When you believe everything is a conspiracy. Your whole life becomes one. Your whole world view travels through that mental filter. I would not be surprised if they look over their shoulder constantly. Vigilance is good and proper. Hyper-vigilance borders paranoia. With so much conspiracy how can they possibly find any hope or happiness. They can't find it. Its not part of their mental operating system. It is the mental notion that "Everything in general is a conspiracy." Do they trust their car mechanic? Probably not. He is trying to screw them. Why? Its a conspiracy.

Everything in this world has advantage and disadvantage, your idea is very useful but still it xill affect innocent people buh if only it will minimise scammers and hackers then I support it.

Nothing in this world is secure my friend except only one single thing. And that is nature. The only soul survivor of our new age society bullshit. That is the only source of freedom we have and we are too enslaved to enjoy it.
Cheers for the article and namaste friend ♡

So true fella, but where has man spared nature either!

Thanks for sharing.

I have checked bookingteam.com and was able to initiate the booking process for a property from the 25th of July (tomorrow.) For most people, this would be considered very last-minute.

It appears that the ability to book a given property will rely primarily on whether or not a property is available on the dates chosen for your chosen location.

I hope that this has adequately answered your question.

Great post as always @bookingteam! 100% UPVOTE!

Awesome!

There is a startup called Token Payments looking to solve this problem.
