Summer walk by the White river

Last summer we had a little trip to the countryside with my family. There was a river which name is White river.

It was a nice warm summer evening and we enjoyed a walk along the riverbank.

The shore was rocky. In the spring, when the water level in the river rises high, it washed away all the land and sand from the shore. Only stones remain. Interestingly, poplars and shrubs manage to grow on these stones.

The river in this place is quite wide. Near the coast it is very shallow, but on the opposite shore there is a deeper and rather fast current.

In this place we wandered off the coast, threw stones into the water and just enjoyed the evening suns and warm weather.

During the walk, I watched as a seagull hunted fish right on the shore. Surprisingly, the depth of water near the shore is less than 20 cm. Probably, the seagull caught a small fish. She hung for several seconds in one place, looking for the victim, and then rushed down. So she repeated three or four times, after which, having caught the prey, she flew somewhere far away.

While we were walking, a company of young people appeared, heading for a swim. Honestly, the coast smells strongly of mud, so I usually don’t swim here. Perhaps that’s why the guys went to the islet.

They went there on a roll. This is such a place where the river becomes wide and very shallow. And the water quickly murmurs over the stones. So by rolling you can go to a small island. Which is essentially just a shallow drop.

Well, we did not go to the island. We walked a bit along the shore. And we went home. And I’ll talk about my other walks next time.
