What is Minnow Spotlight?

In brief, Minnow Spotlight is a new series where we will be featuring minnows with great content. Each post will be focused on a minnow. Our goal is to give this minnow some exposure for their quality-written content. This service is manual, and minnows will be hand selected from the pool!

1. First, and most obvious question is what brought you here?
My friend Allen told me. He's constantly innovating, but also constantly distracted by innovation. Previously, my experience with cryptocurrencies was mostly proof-of-work. I would bleed hashes. A few of my friends would tease the idea of proof-of-stake around me. Then, Allen just tipped my tankard over. He didn't even have to say much. All he said was, "try SteemIt". That's it, I was done.

2. What do you plan to do here on SteemIt?
I've been on SteemIt for over a year now, and I've had a great deal of plans. They haven't changed much, but my path to get there has definitely changed. There are a lot more stops and deliveries on the way to where I'm trying to get at. My endgame: offer real-time analytics, reporting, and event services and private witness. Here are a couple of my stops:

  Proposal
• Non Profit Donation Application
• Blockchain-backed MMO-RTS
• Subscription Model for Steem Services

At the moment however, I am attempting to produce regular content while catching up on HF20. I have been away for some time.

3. Revive the witness
4. Subvert hivemind with kafka

3. What are your first impressions of SteemIt?
This is what I want to do with the rest of my life. LOL. No really, I thought I was going to make enough money to retire and die. It turns out that it's way more work than it looks like. There's a ton of commitment and involvement required. I wasn't ready for it at all.

4. Do you plan on making an investment in SteemIt? Ex) Buying Steem/SBD
I've already purchased quite a bit of steam/sbd with my own money. Do I plan to buy more? I think I would have to if I want to see the value go up. My investment dies at the hands of inflation otherwise.

5. Is this your first time being involved in the crypto space?
I have worked in crypto since it was just Bitcoin. I am a computer scientist by trade, so it comes with the territory to use what I know to improve my investment in whatever way I can. Miners will research and purchase better hardware. With SteemIt, anyone can learn to write software and improve their investment from analysis and tracking to automation and notifications. It's great. I think my curiosity and inherent desire to improve my livelihood will keep me exploring crypto until I die.

6. How did you hear about SteemIt?
I blame Allen. LOL. I've heard about proof-of-stake before, but Dan's delegated proof-of-stake was new to me. SteemIt was my first. It's weird that SteemIt was my gateway to Bitshares and not the other way around. I came in late to the party. I think most of us have.
