Purchasing a Small Toy CollectionsteemCreated with Sketch.

As I’ve mentioned here a million times, one of my favorite aspects of owning my shop is purchasing collections. Comics, statues, action figures, Funko Pops...it does not matter what it is. People are constantly getting in and out of collecting for a plethora of reasons. Changing their minds on items they have acquired. Shifting their focus.

This allows us to stock the store with an endless cycle of various items for a fraction of the $$$’s it would have initially cost. Even better is when the customer accepts store credit for the items. That exact situation is what happened today.

A gentleman waltzed into the shop today with 2 boxes full of toys. Not a super impressive collection by any means, but I’m a sucker for this stuff and don’t know how to say “no”...especially when people are dumping.

The collection mainly consists of 45 loose 6” action figures from various lines like Marvel Legends, Marvel Select, DC Direct, Star Wars, and a smattering of others. Characters like Stormtroopers, Spider-Man, Vision, Spider-Gwen, Iron Fist, Supergirl, Wasp, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Captain America, and more.

Then there Is a small collection of 20 various carded sealed action figures. A few Masters of the Universe, a handful of GI Joe, and a chunk of others from assorted lines like McFarlane Horror, Play Arts Halo & Black Widow, some DC Harley & Joker pieces, and a couple of Robotech Masterpiece Collection pieces.

The 2 Robotech pieces bring in roughly $100-$200 a pop and are the clear winners of the batch. Some of the others will bring in $15-$30 each with a few others bringing in just under $100.

As for the loose figures, we have 3 huge bins with individually wrapped and priced figures in them. Over 3000 figures to be exact. Folks practically dive into the bins and search to see what tasty new additions they can find. This mainly appeals towards collectors who open their figs. Why pay $25 for that new Marvel Legends figure when you can get a loose one for half the price?!? We also have some figure customizers that are always looking for new pieces to dismantle and alter. The loose bin is key for them as well. We will piece the 45 figs out and easily average $10 bucks plus a piece. Not too shabby...

All the guy wanted in return was some store credit to put towards some new stuff he was eyeing up. So we settled on $160 in credit that he ended up putting towards 2 new pieces from Mezco’s One-12 Figure line. Both of these are brand spankin new with the Popeye selling for $85 and the Gladiator Hulk for $140. He ended up paying the difference in cash. He even added in a few LEGO pieces and a Pop for his kid.

All in all, I’m not in love with the deal as it’s a lot of random stuff that isn’t going to fly out quickly. But in reality I look at it as if I paid roughly $100 cash for everything...give or take. That’s a good enough deal to make me say “yes”.

Thanks for checking out this pile of shit with me.

Wow, that Popeye is pretty sick!

Right?!? The Popeye is my favorite One-12 piece thus far!

So, just hypothetically speaking here, do you consider buttplugs to be "toys"?

Asking for a friend.

haha! howdy sir blewitt! I had no idea they had Popeye figures! I guess they have any cartoon character ever!
