"Now full and happy."

This is a toony style color sketch for VazDrae on Twitter. It was a fun drawing and one of my quickest ones I've done. You'll see below how easy it was to do in this tutorial.

My Layer Layout

• Extra Sketch layer
• Fine Sketch layer
• Color Folder
  • Secondary Color layer (masked to base color)
  • Base/Primary Color
• Chair
• Rough Sketch layer
• Canvas Background layer (neutral color like grey)

• Canvas Prep/Rough Sketch

I start out with the canvas background with a neutral color like grey. Then I sketch out some rough shapes and the pose of the character and the chair in the rough sketch layer.

• Fine Sketch

Then I refine the sketch over the roughs in the fine sketch layer.

• Base/Primary Color

After client approval, in the base color layer, I draw in the character's primary color as the base color.

• Detail Colors

Then in the secondary color layer, I add in the character's other detail colors and have this layer masked down to the base color layer.

• Base Color (Chair)

For here, I just created another layer behind the foreground to add in color for the chair. I could've just added this in with the rest of the foreground but I figured this way was easier for me.

• Misc. Details/Final Check/Final Result

After I quickly finished the chair, I change the color of the background to white. Then I check over the drawing for errors and add in some little extra details.

And once that's completed, the drawing is done!
