How to grow hibiscus

in #farms6 years ago

Greetings friends of farms and steemit in general.

In this opportunity, I will inform you about the hibiscus. A plant with very beautiful flowers that is seen in many gardens.

Hibiscus is important to know that not all varieties tolerate in winter, therefore, can die in areas exposed to frost ... Cultivate the hibiscus in a sunny environment and to protect from the cold, in winter, protect the pot or extend an abundant layer of mulch on the ground.

The hibiscus should be grown in an area well exposed to the sun and, if you choose a less resistant ornamental variety, it will be necessary to grow it in pots and then move the containers to the shelter during the winter season.

Watering the Hibiscus

Hibiscus should be irrigated during the first hours of the morning or after sunset, in the period before flowering, you can administer a liquid fertilizer simultaneously with the irrigation. The flowers follow the fruits, the woody berries that contain the seeds.

Grow potted hibiscus.

The hibiscus thrives well in any terrain, even poor and stony. However, those who cultivate potted hibiscus should be careful to choose the most ideal substrate, a soil rich in humus, moist, permeable and, above all, well drained. If it is grown in pots, the hibiscus should rethink every 2 or 4 years, depending on the growth of the vegetation.

How and when to replant the hibiscus.

The replanting, if the plant is young, should be done annually, while if the plant is very mature, it is possible to transplant the hibiscus every 2 or even 4 years if it is grown in large containers. The best time to replant the hibiscus is in the spring.

The new vase should be a little larger than the previous one. When choosing the new soil, it is recommended that you make a formulation that is the same as the substrate previously used. In the 48 hours before replanting, water the hibiscus abundantly, the soil, during the transplant, must be very humid so that the roots can retain a portion of soil that will protect them during this delicate phase.

Hibiscus diseases.

The new shoots, during the spring period, are often attacked by aphids. If you observe the massive presence of these small pests, do not hesitate to use specific natural remedies. One of the preparations is to dissolve 50 g of soap in 3 liters of water and pour the liquid into the sprayer as soon as it is cold. Sprinkle the liquid throughout the plant taking care to moisten even the bottom of the leaves.

Another very useful remedy to prevent the occurrence of diseases in Hibiscus is the use of garlic preparations. Take 100 grams of garlic and cut them thinly, then mix in 10 liters of water inside a container with a lid. Once done, let it marinate about three days before. Once the time has passed, filter the mixture and pour in a spray. Spray on the plants without neglecting any leaf.

I hope this information is useful when growing the hibiscus plants in your garden. Thank you for your visit and I look forward to your next publication.
