DBJP # 59 - Croup Crashes the Party

Perhaps the most frightening experience thus far with our baby boy James, is having to take him into the emergency room for a viral infection of the vocal chords known as Croup.

Left untreated, Croup commonly can resolve itself after a few days but our boys breathing seemed to have all but ceased due to the insane inflammation of his throat. So we took action and brought him in.. and it’s a good thing we did.

Croup is known to onset rapidly with an early fever and hard coughs that resembles the barking of a small dog.

In the most severe cases, inflamed and swollen vocal chords can restrict breathing, in the worst scenarios resulting in death.

Thankfully, we took action and were able to get some treatment to help ease his throat swelling.

It’s been a long day at the hospital, but if it means James will be ok then it’s obviously all worth it!

Little man was a good sport dealing with the long wait of the emergency room. I am thankful we were able to get seen quickly for James to receive some help. Sucks that life saving help is monopolized behind glass doors blocked off by excessive wait times and what not...

We are just happy to be home with our boy.
