The 6 Best Types of Steemians

A few days ago I wrote about the 5 worst types of people on Steemit, so I thought it was only fair to counter that with the good ones!

1. The “So good and long it could almost be a book” poster

You know one of these. You look forward to their posts every week. I say every week because they may not be able to post a quality article every day because it takes them too long. They are the users that post such long and beautiful posts that you tell them they should go a step further and make it into an ebook. Long, well-written articles are the backbone of Steemit and really add to the content of the community. So “So Good and Long it Could Almost Be a Book” Poster, we salute you! (And we do plan on leaving a comment, but we are still trying to get through your article. Cut us a little slack, won’t ya?)

2. The Not-Dick Whale

They do exist, really! And actually they far outnumber the dick whales. Not-Dick whales keep the community afloat by upvoting minnows and the like, making sure that people stick around because they are actually compensated for their content. I see this every day. Some people have found whales that offer them a daily wage. Some people just get the occasional major uptick in their payout because a whale came along and felt super giving. Whichever one you are, I’m sure you still appreciate those who hold the power and use it for good.

3. The Platform Builder

I know a few of these types. They tirelessly post, and curate and share and cross post to get Steemit some good attention. They are not concerned about their payouts and put all of their energy into helping build the platform. These people are why Steemit continues to thrive!

4. The Investor

It would benefit the platform if everyone did this, but then again, then no one would be making any money, ever. So at the very least, there are tons of Steemians who have spent their first few months on the platform reinvesting into the platform. Every time you convert your SBD into Steem and power up, an angel gets its wings. Ok, maybe not that, but a minnow may get a bigger upvote and that should leave us all feeling warm and fuzzy.

5. The Not Afraid of Anything-er

(Yass Queen. Yasss)

Admittedly this could be a double edged sword, as sometimes posters who aren't afraid of anything aren't the best additions to a platform, but I am talking about those that will come into a conversation and shake it up. The people who break the echo chamber that often occurs in this beautiful online world. They have zero fucks to give about what they are making, or if anyone cares about what they post. They say what they want, they bring newness to old, worn-out discussion, and they are really a breath of fresh air! Kudos to those seemingly unafraid of anything!

6. The Heartfelt Commenter

I've gotta say, there is nothing more depressing than taking the time to write an awesome blog, checking your replies for feedback and then seeing a "Very nice blog, upvote me, thank you." I would rather someone not even comment than do that. Luckily, there are heartfelt commenters to the rescue! These are the people that you can consistently count on to not only read your content but engage with it by leaving meaningful comments. These are the users that get whole conversations started in your comments section and bring lots of positive attention to your blog. These people are awesome, so make sure that you properly upvote their comments!

Well this is inspiring!
I've got to pull out all the stops to make sure I can tick all these boxes... if I want to make Steem my career. I think I've spent a little bit of time in each of these areas... except for the whale bit... that might be a while away yet... a while whale.

You are smashing these articles!
Also, to anyone reading this... these points are absolutely the secret to success in Steem! Steem on!!

Except the whale one (which you will tick off soon enough) you are totally already all of these things. You are seriously a shining example of what Steemians should be like! You really care about the platform and I love that!

Awwwww shucks!
Thank you young lady!

Whale on!

I love how you “balanced” the 5 worst with 6 best! You instantly added more positivity to the world. I would have considered myself the heartfelt commenter until I read “make sure that you properly upvote their comments”. That almost stopped me from admitting this... almost.

Ahaha, well I doubt any of us are on here just for the fun of it...maybe some, but of course there is a monetary incentive, and there would almost have to be for how much time and effort posting takes! In this new world it is not a bad thing to expect to be compensated for your time and I find that so alien, but also super exciting! So thank you for your heartfelt comment!

I am fortunate to have a well paying job that allows me live and do the things I like, but my goal is to one day become my own boss and Steemit gives me the practice I want to become a better writer. I also love the interaction and self-help posts here. I am furthering my goals by investing in crypto currencies and I am confident that Steem will be a big winner!

Yeah I run a non-profit and I am a stay at home mom to 3 kids. Neither of these things really pay anything. So my life is very full...just not of money haha. So while I love Steemit, I have to make it work for me financially too, and in a way, that is what is different about this platform, and what people should be expecting. If it were just about fun, you could have fun on Reddit. I would arguably say that some of the posts on there are even better than some on here. The financial incentive is what sets Steemit apart. People make money on here, and then decide whether or not to invest in the platform, which in a way gives each of us even a small voice as "investors". That's what I like about Steemit!

I agree that reddit and tumblr have way better content.... but it’s that pesky little detail that sets us apart from them: monetary incentive! I try to stay off the other social media sites as much as possible (except as a #steemambassador)

I only come on here for the fun it! lol.

Maybe this explains why I'm not earning much - but I want to.

I am fluent in English to a very high standard - but it is hard to get it - in context sometimes of what I want to/try to say.

It's all ok, ill keep playing, and hopefully it will grow into something...

(My partner @lucylin, takes it more seriously, and he is doing ok.)

I was so carried away with this post that i didn't think it will end..i enjoyed this..makes a lot of sense..nice one

Such an awesome post! As you already know I am very new to Steemit so its great knowing these kind of things! ! Have a great day :)
