Dtube: Discord Disaster
First things first - I'm the realest.

@heimindanger - You sir, are a badass mofo. Dtube has seen some amazing improvements lately, and the new faces and different payouts on the trending page have been a welcoming change! Thanks for listening to all of our babble. You da' man.
That being said. Dtubers, we have some 'splainin' to do. I have been hearing a lot of frustration from users who really want to be a part of the Dtube community, but that feel like they are being steamrolled in the discord. There are literally dozens of videos that Dtubers have made telling people that the first step to gaining popularity and upvotes is to go in to the discord and get to know everybody.
Now, I usually only pop in and out, so I am not sure who this is all happening to, but I have seen it even in scrolling through old conversation. A few people will be having a really intense discussion (usually about bullshit I might add, and I'm not talking about technical stuff, I'm talking about like, comparing dick sizes type discussions) and they will fully ignore anyone new who pops in. Or, they might stop to say hi, but the buck stops there. No further dialogue is attempted.
You guys, Steemit is a crazy scary place. It is a trial-by-fire type of place, and for some people, entering a new chat room is like swimming in a shark tank with a flesh wound. For some people, getting into that room is a huge step by itself, so I think it's important to be as nice and welcoming as possible, to strike up a conversation, to find out what these people want to bring to the table, to not immediately act like assholes if they ask how to get an upvote. EVERYONE DEEP DOWN WANTS TO KNOW THAT...regardless of how much a lot of you act like you don't give a shit.
I have always been curious as to how to get a consistent upvote. That doesn't mean I won't post without one, that doesn't mean I will become a trigglypuff if I don't get one, or harass @heimindanger. I don't want to know that bad...but to say I don't care at all is an outrageous lie, and at least I will admit it.
Try harder.
That's my message tonight for my fellow Dtubers.
Try harder.
This isn't high school. Stop acting like the cool kid crowd. Stop looking down on others just because you have been lucky enough to find success. @reseller is doing an amazing job on his show recognizing others for their awesomeness. I am not saying we all have to have a show like that, or how BuzzSteem used to be set up, but at the very least, can we make a concerted effort to reach out to people in the Discord? I will. I hope you will too.

It wasn't one exchange in particular guys, but just the ways things are in general in the Dtube discord. I looked over the last week of conversation, which took ages, but there was at least a dozen instances in which attempts were made by someone to interact, and they were completely overlooked, or briefly acknowledged and forgotten. I only even brought this up because I have had a couple of people message me personally. I am not on Discord as often as others are, so I didn't know this was really much of a problem until I started hearing about it. One person even messaged me because they said they were afraid to post in the main chat. Like, whaaaa? I guess it depends on the conversation that day I suppose haha.
I am not calling anyone out personally, just a friendly reminder to try to be as nice and welcoming as possible in the Discord. I know the word "positive" gets thrown around like hot cakes around here, so here's my positivity for the day, baked in sarcasm and topped with some pessimism.
