Haven’t Gotten Around To ..

Getting that post together yet about our Christmas tree hunt yesterday and getting around to decorating it. But I did however clean a few things up yesterday, One of which were the three poinsettia plants from last year‘s Christmas party that are still sitting on our dining room table. We have been watering them occasionally, And it surely started to show recently. They began dropping their leaves and started looking awfully spindly. I guess it didn’t matter too much, because they still began to bloom, and some of the newer leaves at the top turned red. I know that you have to restrict the amount of light to get in order to really turn them red, and that room gets a lot of light.

I gathered them up ..

And set them by the rear sliding glass doors. I was putting my shoes on so I could take them out to our mulch pile to dispose of them there and to make room for the new ones (I know, cruel! )As they were sitting there and I was putting my shoes on, I noticed how the sunlight, being low on the horizon, was shining through the leaves. The strong intense light shining through the thin layer of cells, beautifully exposed the detailed venation within the leaves.

I took several photographs ..

Of the leaves of these poinsettia plants, So I could share the coolness with you. I edited One in particular that I thought was the neatest one. I altered it in a few different ways. I’m not sure which version I like best, but the dark amber colored one seems to speak out to me. The longer I stared at these pictures the more I noticed that the left side of the photograph/leaf, looks like city streets of a neighborhood. Something you would see from an aerial photograph of the suburban areas of the city. Just my take on it. Life imitating nature I suppose.

I always enjoy ..

Looking at things in a slightly different way, or a little bit closer than I normally do. Something always seems to surprise me when I take the time to really look. I Hope you enjoyed these macros and variations on the poinsettia leaf. Have a great day!

Sort:

That is a hard choice to make, which one is better? I like them all, but I feel the dark green one allows the vein shadows to stand out just that little bit more, making them look like walls to me in some places.

I didn’t notice that, but your right! Does look like little walls. It has some definite topography there. Thanks for the insight!

He creates blacklists of thousands of Steemians he deems "inappropriate". I believe he is a majority cause for the drop in
the price in steem as he wrecklessly downvotes random content causing people to want to leave Steemit. Since he has over 500,000 SP
