Pingo Pond Reflections
Pingo's and Pingo ponds form in permafrost areas. A Pingo is a raised frozen hill covered in dirt, and a Pingo pond is a collapsed Pingo area. that is just a very basic explanation of a Pingo. More information is available on line. In Alaska we have a lot of what people refer to as Pingo Ponds. Some of them may be something else but any almost circular little lake or pond people call them Pingo Ponds.
We have a few in the area I live and on calm wind days and interesting sky days, they do offer some nice reflections. This was the last picture I took yesterday. We were already in the vehicle getting ready to leave and I had to get one more picture, it was one of the best ones.
This one here is a panoramic picture of five images pasted together with the Auto Stitch Program. I do like the ease of use of that program and with it being free and just a requirement to give it's name, it is well worth it.
A classic Pingo Pond shape, almost a perfect circle.
The area of this small Pingo has a nice view almost all the way around. You get a nice Big Sky look to the area. here is a view looking out to the east, and then followed by one looking out to the south. No north view the sky was rather bleak in that direction.
It looks like the middle of nowhere, but while we were there taking pictures, a young woman on a bicycle road by and was friendly enough to say hello, one car went by, then as we were leaving a couple walking their old dog, along the road, and one more car coming at us. Still it is nice to be where there are no signs of civilization, other than a cone marking a buried power line. It was quiet also, no loud radios, no loud talking, even the dog did not bark.
So lets finish up with one more panoramic photo of the pond, there is from the lily area of the pond.
I guess HF 21/20 is still in play, two of the pictures above had to be loaded twice, cannot connect to server errors, this last one reached to 98% and failed, and has failed to upload several time at 40-65%, but I did not give up.
Big View
I guess that was all it took, mentioning the problem and the very next try success
All images were taken by me with my Nikon Camera, and landscape lens. Location of images is the State of Alaska on a side road off the Sterling Highway.
Perfect report. Nice photos. 👍

Gracias, muy apreciado.
Hey, @bashadow.
Very nice. I'd never heard of pingo's before, but they remind of what happens in areas in the Yucatan and adjoining states due to limestone. You either end up with caves, sinkholes filled with water, or both.
That first image has got to be one of the best sky reflections I've ever seen. That Nikon of yours serves you well. :)
A little color boosting and exposure correction, software is pretty handy with fixing some pictures, but there was very little editing done on that one, We were just getting ready to leave, I had even put my camera in the back seat, and then the sun peeked out just a bit more and I got my camera and took one last shot. I was pretty happy with that one.

Thank you.
I have never heard the term Pingo so that was something I learned today and cool to see all these amazing shots I particularly love the first two with the reflections
It was a kind of nice cloud day, and no wind. The sun was a bit bright when it popped out from the clouds, but I love reflection photo's and am always happy when I can get one.
Sounds like a good day and I to love reflections :)

We do have a lot of areas for pictures, a shame about the fire heading into the mountains this summer it would have been nice to headed into them, but with all the smoke that was out for this summer.
These are stunning shots! State of Alaska wow!
Thank you, we are into reflection galore season in Alaska, I just wish the fire would get put out and the smoke clear so I can get back into the mountains.
My pleasure! Shouldn't be over by now?
Amazing photos @bashadow!! I can see why you would want to take more photos and glad you got that first one..it is breathtaking! 💖
