Birds can have some clever camouflage, especially in the northern areas due to predators both airborne and land-based.
The Owl, Lord of Silent night stealth, He blends in very well during the day in the birch trees. The sharp eyes of some of the other birds know right where he is. I don't know if he is a threat to baby birds, but I am thinking he is. Parents will go to extremes to protect their children, it is no different in the bird world. This robin has taken a very particular dislike to this owl. Unless you have heard it before, it is unbelievable the amount of racket that can come out of a robins body.
Size does not matter, that owl is a heck of a lot bigger than that poor little robin, but when push comes to shove, even the mightiest can be driven away. It all looks so calm and peaceful, a beautiful owl in the tree, and a handsome robin in the same tree just watching him, all is well in the world of the birds. Appearances can be very deceiving, the owl trying to blend into his surroundings, the robin seeing him and keeping a close eye on him.
The call came in, yes it was the one, he was the one that had gotten to close to our nest, time to let it know who is really in charge. For 10 minutes this little robin flew at and dive bombed this owl from left and right his attacks hardly relented until the owl was chased away, then once again quite fell upon the yard, for a few minutes, no sounds except the rustling of leaves in the wind.
Of course we think of owls being mostly active at night in the pitch black where their silent attacks can happen unseen. I was surprised that the owl sat so long on the little birds dancing pole.

I enjoyed being able to see it, my wife see's it a lot more often than me, this was like only the third or fourth time I have seen it.
Seeing is good enough but getting pictures is out of sight :-)

Thank you, It was fun to watch the interaction between them, that little guy had a lot of spunk. I am slowly figuring my big lens out.
I am learning a little more everytime I use my csmera, too. Hands on works best for me.

It was enjoyable to watch, the owl just kind of sat there hoping the robin would go away, but in the end the robin had his way and chased the owl out of the area. Of course the owl will be back.
I cannot remember the last time I saw an owl so it was great to see your awesome shots of them
Daytime is sleep time for owls, still that Robin wanted to make the owl notice that his family was not in the menu 😝
Yeah, that little guy was very instant that he wanted the owl to go away.
Parents behave mostly the same when it comes to protecting their children 😊
