Reposts #1 - Haarlem
I posted a lot of pictures since I joined Steemit in March. To see them all, you need to scroll all the way down. There is no way to categorize posts here, any other way than by using the tags. So I decided to repost some of my older posts.
This post will be about my hometown, Haarlem.
In december I took a few pictures while walking in my hometown Haarlem in the Netherlands. It snowed and at that one moment this part of the city looked like Moscow.!

One morning I was biking to my work. I couldn't resist taking a picture of this bridge in the magic morning light at that moment.
The bridge is called Gravestenenbrug and is a double drawbridge over Spaarne river. The bridge was built in 13th century. The current bridge was erected in 1950. It is mostly made out of concrete, steel and wood. One of the most photographed objects of Haarlem.

On a sunny day in January I grabbed my camera and took a walk in my beautiful city, Haarlem. I took this picture during that walk.
The windmill you see is called 'Adriaan'. The original one dates from 1779, but it burned into ashes in 1932. For 70 years no one ever witnessed this beauty in real life again. We only had some shady black and white pictures and oil paintings to remember it. But 70 years later (in 2002) 'Adriaan' was completely rebuilt again at exactly the same place. It was like we shifted back in time. From that day on it is a distinctive part of the skyline of Haarlem again, like it was for centuries before that.

Every year we have 'open monuments days' in the Netherlands. One weekend per year a lot of great monuments are open for public. A big opportunity for photographers like me to load up our bags with lenses and visit some of these places.
I shot this picture in 'House Barnaart', a big mansion in the center of Haarlem. The picture came out a bit too dark, but at that moment I was experimenting with LightRoom and this came out as a result of that.

I was lucky when I took this picture. Normally it is crowded with people, but at that particular moment, there was nobody.
I took it at the railway station of Haarlem. It opened at september 20 1839 and became the first railway station of the Netherlands. It connected directly to what we now call the Central Station of Amsterdam.
A lot of movies where shot at this station, pretending to be Central Station of Amsterdam. Including Hollywood movies like for example 'Ocean's Twelve'.

For 24 years I lived very close to the Amsterdamse Poort. It is an old city gate of Haarlem, Netherlands.
It was created in 1355 and is the only remaining city gate left from the original twelve gates from the defenses of Haarlem. It is located at the end of the old route from Amsterdam to Haarlem.

The Grote Kerk (Big Church), also known as St.-Bavokerk, is a Protestant church located on the Grote Markt (the central market square) in Haarlem.
It was one of the first pictures I took with my Canon 700D.
