"I can't wait to read the spreadsheet!" - Nobody, Ever.

Greetings and salutations storytellers, resident squirrel @Brisby here!

As of week #29, the Finish the Story Contest is proud to announce that it has awarded:

134 @steembasicincome shares (along with 22.558 SBD & 14 Steem)!

But wait, there are other amazing stats to this contest than just prizes!

Have you wondered which editions you've participated in? Can you recall how often you've voted for a favorite story? Which week was it that the contest moved to @Bananafish? When was it that a few Bananafish Knights came forward to give @F3nix a much deserved break? Do you enjoy grid lines and aligned text?

Thanks to the tireless record keeping of the Bananafish Prophet, @F3nix, and the time capsule that is the Steem Blockchain, we present:

The Finish The Story Spreadsheet!

Many would look upon these spreadsheets and take the data at face value. Rows and columns keeping everything orderly for statistical tracking. But those of you who've participated in this contest will see more than that, to the story within the lines.

The Participants Stats tell of the journey each writer has shared with the community. Those that have the word BANNER in their submissions count have joined in at least five adventures (therein earning a special "Storyteller" banner for their flair). There are many faithful fic-o-holics who have over 10 entries under their belt and three individuals (@Cyemela, @Marcoriccardi, & @Wonderwop) who have written more than 20!

Look to cell F5 on the Weekly Stats sheet for the beginning of the tale. 11 entries made on the first day and 26 within the initial week. The column goes on, with more writers joining the challenge and the fun to reach 362 submissions by Week #29!

Within these sheets are A.I. teddy bears, a punk band, demons, angels, dolls, and Velociraptors. There's tons of dough - both the monetary (SBI, SBD and Steem), as well as the edible. Writers have tried genres that are outside of their comfort zone. Everyone has received feedback that extends miles beyond insincere flattery that's given in hopes for a reciprocal upvote to true appreciation of the work the author presented.

Which brings us to the best part of the story on the Weekly Stats sheet. Cells C61 and E61. The comments. Within these 2472 replies, you can see the beginning of friendships, the sharing of ideas, and the growth of a supportive community.

imageedit_13_4200737647.png
It's amazing the meaning a couple of numbers can have, isn't it?

There are weeks where members have donated SBI shares, SBD, and Steem towards the prize pool. Week #11, for one example, had a surprise (bonus SBI shares) for all of the participants thanks to @Giddyupngo!

Within those thousands of comments, there's laughs, GIF's, tips, suggestions, and more of @Theironfelix's Ashley the Witch pics than @Brisby wanted to count. Those replies are where this community came alive, to support the contest and ultimately, each other.

See how there are many cells still blank? That there is still room to add more sheets as the weeks become years?

That's because this story, the @Bananafish story, is far from finished.

Let's add more to it, together.

Wow, looking at that sheet not only makes me go back in time, it also makes me aware of how much has been done in this group. This work is a sample of the constancy, creativity and support that all the participants have received in each week since the contest was created. I never felt like a loser! Never. Participating was already a gain. You are loved, friends. Greetings

Time flies when we're having fun and I love the way you put it Nancy:

Participating was already a gain.

Perfectly said.

Oh, I hope that you don't mind, but since I was going back and gathering stats, I collected the story endings that were strictly posted in the comments. I've still a bunch of organizing to do but, if you'd like, here's your submissions (with links to the weeks and the beginning scripts).

Nancy's FTS Endings

What a great idea Bris! I donnow wherelse you find such cool people 😎🤙

Use the present verb not the past dear Nancy! You're always in our hearts and we look forward for reading you again ☺️

So many people have contributed so much! <3 I have to sort my stats out, can I still vote while sitting out?

Vote, vote proud bananafish knight! 😉

Ok, I missed the last voting cut off, but from now on will try and just vote for a while :)

The precious support and involvement from you has helped to make this contest into a community! I was smiling and laughing when looking back to confirm some of the stats! (I kept getting distracted from finding stats with re-reading SO many stories and comments...LOL).

Thank you for everything, Calluna! Wishing you well! 🤗

Wow! Reading these statistics makes me realizing the amount of wonderful creations we have made in this contest...I wasn't fully aware of that, dealing with it one week at time.

Thank you @brisby for these insights, and thank you @f3nix: all this is your fault! Endless kudos!

Thank you but all I did was put stuff into numbers and rows. 😉 YOU'VE been spectacular and constant through it all, Marco! I'll admit, it was great to stop and look back through. (I became distracted more times than I'll admit to, LOL.)
Also, thanks to you, my new favorite # is #blamef3nix 😂

My ego is rising so high I feel dizzy for acute mountain sickness...

#blamef3nix
A.F.A.B. (All f3nix are bananafish)

#blamef3nix!!! What's next? A f3nix voodoo doll?

It's exactely its purpose. Look all the way we did together ✌️

"I can't wait to read the spreadsheet!" - Nobody, Ever.

haha! Please, quit your day job and do this full time.

Ooo… You will have to update me as having one GOLD curie upvote. Okaaay… maybe I added the gold part. sheesh. Touchy. hahaha!

I liked seeing the stats. Interesting to see who the regulars are. I'm glad to be a part of this group. All the stories have been outside of my comfort zone.

Psss... Tristan... ask @brisby about the spreadsheet fetish..

@brisby what is this spreadsheet fetish you have?

haha!

Some say fetish...Others say organized.... Ask @f3nix what one can find with a simple search 😉
Playing with spreadsheets is a natural and healthy hobby... 😁
Pssst..Tristan...you're going to want to zoom out as much as possible...(maybe even use (CTRL and -) on your brower...

You two are too funny! haha!!!

Oh, @brisby! That spreadsheet is great work. I'm sure it took you hours upon hours to complete such a fine work of art. I'm touched.

@f3nix - What can one find with a simple search?

Whoa @brisby.. you naughty squirrel of spreadsheets! How did you do that? 😂 @tristancarax my simple searches may start from a movie soundtrack and end with how to summon a swamp troll.

I wish that I had the patience for such spreadsheet magic but alas, my friend, I do NOT! I popped an image into the spreadsheet converter over on Things to make and do in the 4th dimension. Just remember to use a tiny image to convert - some spreadsheets zoom better than others. 😉

You win for the best use of Tim Curry I've seen in a while!!

Let me tell you, I labored over each cell for hours! 😝 Just kidding! To be honest, I used the spreadsheet converter over on Things to make and do in the 4th dimension. I did learn from the exercise though that google spreadsheets don't zoom as well as others do so if you use it for a google sheet, use a really small image! I'm happy that you liked it , Tristan! 🤗

I'm glad that someone else laughed! (Thanks, Tristan and I hope you don't mean creating spreadsheets full time...😎).

I'll update the shared sheet tonight and you can be sure that your Curie will be typed in beautiful, bold GOLD! (Mine look silver to me, LOL)

For as good as your stories have been, I say keep writing outside of your comfort zone! 😉

Wow, what an effort! Lifting hat for @Brisby s statistics.
It shows how long this is actually going on. I haven't thought that. I just entered recently the group and only did so far 3 entries.

What I've learned so far (like with all projects):

  • it gives structure to the single lonely rider
  • it is a very good addition to writing alone on ones blog
  • the limitation to 500 words is a good exercise to trim unnecessary word salad & to think more deeply about expressions
  • competition is motivating but not the most important thing
  • reading can be learned as well (not only writing) - I favor that
  • exchange is so much more fun when all agree on the same topic: a narration in which one involves oneself much more compared to just consume an article and skip to the next new hot thing

Thanks to all who organize & structure this contest!

You're welcome Erika, and thanks to you for being part of this! Those are data from my excel, that @brisby organised with her unique squirredelic magic powder. She did an impressive job (as mine are quite messy and for sure I didn't have the comment stats). Running this contest has been tough, at times, but my intention has been always to keep it going, no matter what. @marcoriccardi, @agmoore, @calluna, @brisby, @raj808, @curie, all the writers of the stories.. they all contributed in making this a real gem. Allow me to say that in my vision this contest will become something that never existed on steemit. I adore the last two points of your comment in particular. When I read to what the contest/community brought to you I think that there's so much to learn from each other when we keep our minds open and in the middle of such a creative brainstorming - f3nix

Yeah, true it is, running a contest can be tough and the downside on your part I can imagine is to be the driver, the pusher and motivator even though you don't always feel like it. To give the stick to some others is therefore good and to expect from the community members to be the readers, "feedbackers" and to support one another, too. ... I know for myself that I can be a hated member of a community as well, as I do not always keep it super nice but critical - learning to find the right tone, here. Cause I'd like to learn through critique even when it hurts. Which is the case, as we are all very great egos at times ;-)
What I find difficult at times is not giving loyal votes but those I find best.

Thank you, Erh.Germany! (F3nix was kind enough not to point out that how much patience he afforded me - because this squirrel was often distracted from sprinkling her magic powder when reading the previous stories. 😜)

Thanks for being a part of this community and for sharing your view on the contest's strong points! 😁

you are welcome! Now I actually know F3nix sex. I was asking myself if male or female 😜 lol

Ha! Glad to help! I've often wondered that for many Steemians! (My favorite though is that most assume that I'm male - the reactions I receive when I tell them otherwise never fails to make me laugh. 😂)

😁
Hi, sister.

Hello and happy weekend to you, Lady Erika! 😸

..Bris is a tomboy, that's why they get mistaken 😜

I knew that footage of me climbing trees had been leaked....😝

Numbers have their undisputed charm, haven't they? @brisby I asked you some simple statistics but you exceeded every expectation! This makes my personal Necronomicon (the excel where the results are recorded) turn pale. I think that what we're creating together is truly unique in the Steemit environment. There's no contest like ours, capable of creating a community where an easygoing-cool attitude mixes with quality writing and solidarity.. hoist the colors, proud storytellers!

Ha! I may have a simplistic squirrely mind my fanged friend but there are just too many good stats to your contest and tribe NOT to record! I'm happy that you liked the sheet!
(Brisby may have a few other things up her sleeve for your Necronomicon. #Christmasiscoming hmmm...or should I say #Krampusiscoming?) 😎 📜

Thank you, F3nix! This is a fantastic group and an initiative worth being a part of! 🤘

#krampusiscoming forever!!

I already see a Xmas edition.. yumm!

Here here, updated my delegation to be 50 SP instead of 30 SP now. Regardless more Ashley, UwU and now some A Hat in Time gifs incoming! Anyways, I won't spam a lot by here's some I feel okay in using:
Interestin' stuff 'ere.gif
Dancin' to victory.gif
When I'm really lovin' somethin'.gif
Regardless, nice spreadsheet. Anyways, to steal from SGDQ/AGQD, one last thing: keep on chugging!

Only @brisby could have done it! I did so well in asking her.. those gifs are cool broski as long as you don't use the yellow thingy disturbing one 😂 Thank you for your delegation and for bringing your peculiar dark mist touch to the contest!

I don't think subliminal messages qualify as "asking"....😂 But, I really enjoyed being able to look back through the weeks and being able to catch many things that I missed along the way. 🤗

Hahah well said Bris, and about the subliminal messages...

Yearghhh! You deserve this:
Igor.gif

Aww, that's terrific Felix, thank you!
I get such a kick out of your comments (and your GIFS - which I actually began counting but lost track of where I was when my computer timed out and we were getting forked, LOL)! BTW, any GIF that disturbs F3nix makes me laugh my butt off (there was one I gave him with a typing pig head ...)! 😉

Love the Hat In Time dancing!

UwU ~ Glad to be makin’ yah life a bit jovial.
