INTRODUCTION ABOUT HABITAT.

The habitat of an organism is that type of place in which it normally lives.Eagle and fowl are all birds, but they live in different places.
Eagle stays away from homes and lives on the mountains while fowl lives at homes. Ducks and chickens are all birds but also Live in different kinds of places.where plants and animals live are called their habitats.

     TYPES OF HABITAT.

There are different kinds of habitat depending on what you will use in describing it.

Habitat may be classified into three main kinds.

1,Aquatic _____habitats.
2, Terrestrial __habitats.
3,Arboreal____habitats.

            AQUATIC HABITAT.

Aquatic habitat: Aqua means water in Greek language. It means water habitat. This habitat is also of three kinds:

A. Marine or salt water habitat.
B. Estuarine or brackish water habitat .
C. Fresh water habitat.

MARINE OR SALT WATER HABITAT and is usually a large body of water like sea or ocean like Atlantic ocean.lt has high concentration of salt and many kinds of dissolved substances.

      TERRESTRIAL HABITAT.

Terrestrial habitat are land habitats. It is also of four kinds namely

A. MARSH.
B. FOREST.
C. SAVANNAH AND
D. ARID LAND.

A MARSH is a lowland habitat which is flooded at all times, grasses and shrubs grow.

A FOREST is a plant community in which tree species are dominant.

SAVANNAH is tropical or temperature grassland.

ARID LAND are those in which water is very difficult to obtain, either because it is scarce or it is frozen.

           ARBOREAL HABITAT.

ARBOREAL habitats are tree and air habitat. Many minute microscope organisms live on the air. Others live on tree, walls and buildings. All these contributes to air environment.

CHARACTERISTICS OF ORGANISMS FOUND IN DIFFERENT HABITATS.

Characteristics of organisms in aquatic habitat.

  1. The have streamline body to move easily in water.

  2. They breath with gills.

  3. They have large mouth.

  4. They have curious shapes.

  5. They often have fluorescent organs believed to attract their prey.

  6. Those in salt water can withstand high pressures and salinity.

  7. They can withstand low oxygen concentration.

  8. Many aquatic plants have devices for keeping them afloat such as air bladder, expanded shape and light weight.

CHARACTERISTICS OF ORGANISMS FOUND IN TERRESTRIAL HABITAT.

  1. Possess organs that reduces wateqr loss from their bodies.

  2. They have control over their body temperature.

  3. They develop a support or skeletal system.

  4. They have limbs for moving about.

  5. They can reproduce in the absence of water.

  6. The animals generally breath with lungs.

  7. Most plant have the ability to regenerate new shoots immediately after bush burning in Savannah land.

  8. The trees have well developed root system to hold them in the soil and to abosorb water.

  9. They plants have stomata and tentacles for gasesous exchange.

  10. Many plants have tap root system for deep layers of the soil.

  11. The trees have board leaves since water conservation is not a serious problem.

  12. The trees have large amounts of strengthing tissues such as xylem, for support.

  13. Many Terrestrial animal can burrow into the ground to avoid high temperature at the ground surface and also escape from their enemies. Examples, snakes, scorpions and termites.

ORGANISMS FOUND IN Different KINDS OF HABITAT.

Habitats of different kinds present different problems to living things.life is believed to have started in water, and in due course, organisms that were not suitably adapted moved on the land so organism lives in the land so organism lives in an environment or habitat suitable for it's survival.

ORGANISMS IN AQUATIC HABITAT differs from those on land and air. Remember we have mentioned that aquatic habitat is also subdivided into Marine or salt water and fresh water habitat Organism in Marine or salt water habitat include Slater, water snail, starfish, bivalve, annelid sea anemones, worms, sea urchin etc.
Organism in estuarine or blackish habitat includes sand crab, lung, barnacles, white and red mangrove, hermit crab, etc.

ORGANISM IN FRESH WATER HABITAT_ include tilapia, mudfish, catfish, mosquito lava and pupa, water snails water spider, crayfish water scorpions, amphibians, reptiles, birds and even mammals like hippotarmus.water lettuce, water Lily, water hyacinth, utricularia, lemna are examples of water plants.

ORGANISM IN TERRESTRIAL HABITAT are also numerous.they are also adapted to different types of Terrestrial habitats. In marish, plants found include various grasses and algae the float on the water surface. The most common animals the mangrove grab, lagoon crab, hermit, crab, mudskipper, bloody clam, oyster, barnacles angle fish, frogs, toad, fishes and birds.
In forest Terrestrial habitat we have animals like snakes, tortoise, black cobra lion, chimpanzees, leopard, African covet, bush tailed porcupine.

SAVANNAH TROPICAL or temperature Terrestrial habitat is very rich in animal population.

In the soil there are many animals such as tremolos, dear, squirrels, grasscutters include snails, cheetahs, and leopards.

In arid lands few animals lives here. They often live In burrow to avoid hot weather. Earthworm, millipede are Examples.

   ORGANISM IN ARBOREAL HABITAT.

Many animals live on trees.they include monkeys, squirrels, bats, birds, lizards, tee frogs and chameleons.
Others such as millipedes, ants and snails, live amongst the leaf litter on the surface of the soil. Epiphytes are plants that lives on another plant it is usually found high up in the trees, among the topmost smaller branches, where much light is available. Many minutes Organism like bacteria, fungus and virus lives in the air.all these constitute to ARBOREAL ORGANISMS.

CHARACTISTICS OF ORGANISMS FOUND IN ARBOREAL HABITAT.

             CONCLUSION.
  1. Habitat is the place all kinds of animals and plants are living to survival.
Habitat is a home were all Organism live both animals and plants.

  2. Aquatic habitat is a habitat enviroment sorrounded by water were animals and plants stay to live because they have animals and plants that lives in the water.

  3. Terrestrial habitat is a habitat of lands and forest. It is a place were animals and plants lives in the ground or bush.

  4. Abosorb habitat is a habitat were animals lives in the trees and trees use to be green in colour.
