My Generation, The Rock Anthem for a Generation!

When Beatlemania hit the World and then The Rolling Stones , Everyone went crazy about Pop/Rock Music. me included .

But then along came a Group formed in 1964 , Roger Daltrey on Vocals, John Entwistle on Bass, Keith Moon on Drums and Pete Townshend on Guitar ( also main songwriter)

When I first heard them , I just could not believe my luck in discovering them , rabid Fan!

First Single was I Can't Explain , Look How young they are!

The Marshall Double Stack Amplifier , still used By Most Rock Bands to this Day , Was designed for them! They wanted to be louder than anyone else! And, what is wrong with that?

Substitute ( A song I used to play in early Bands I played in)

Keith Moon was the Wild Man on the Drums and in his Over Exciting Life, Crashed a Famous Hot Rod he bought in his Driveway!

He died from his decadent life style late 1978 In addition to his talent as a drummer, however, Moon developed a reputation for smashing his kit on stage,

and destroying hotel rooms on tour. He was fascinated by blowing up toilets with cherry bombs or dynamite, and by destroying television sets. I assume very popular at Parties! Considered the Best Rock Drummer ever!

John Entwistle was My Hero on Bass , nobody played like Him ,

Many Years Later When he Died 2002 ( On Tour ) they Got Britain's Top Session Bassist to replace him , but had to add a Brass Section to fatten up the Sound!

My own opinion, the only Guy who could have pulled that one off was Billy Sheehan from Mr. Big!

Another Favourite of mine- The Kids are Alright.

Won't get fooled again!

Baba O Riley.

The Who sold over a 100 Million records through their career, and have been cited as a big influence by many more modern bands.

The Who also invented the Rock Opera , namely Tommy , and later Quadrophenia both of which were turned into Films

I have included the Full 1975 Movie below with the part of Tommy being performed by Roger Daltrey ( who later starred in a Number of Films.)

I am still happy to listen to Classic Who Tracks, I hope you enjoy this?

Sort:

Love the Who, although overall I'm more of a zep fan. But I agree, they changed how you should play (and behave).

Thanks for this reminder

My Pleasure.

ha ha, finally a band I know!

But sad again, how many promising careers ended early. Being creative is not being self-destructive, and I'm amazed at how many artists prosper for a while and dry up either because they got too comfortable, or they burned themselves out.

I think when they reach the stage that they " Rule the World" they imagine they are bullet proof?
