Second post and I've already delayed by 3 days.

Great...

I've always sucked at keeping myself consistent. It's a skill I've lacked so bad. My monkey mind is constantly on overdrive, always thinking about stuff and craving for stimuli, almost like an addiction that i have to withdraw from. If I want to pursue self-improvement, I'll have to address that issue.

As I planned, Soliloquy is a series I want to keep running every week as a personal log of my thoughts and observations over the week. To record changes and improvement (if any) over the year of what i did for a future reference to gauge my growth.

Which is why it's so important for me to not delay my posts on the series.. Strike one perhaps?

Over the week 2 things happened.

For one I am now officially freelancing. Yes, I've made the leap towards not living the pay check to pay check life. I am still at a part of life where I can afford this risk, So why not? I rather risk a probable failure than regret not giving it a try for the rest of my life.

> "It baffles me how many people say they don't like oyster but have never tasted it, So many people say some things are not possible for them but they've never even experiment with it. Trying something you dont think is possible only has upsides, either you are right and now you have proof that you've tried it and its not for you.. or, you are wrong and your live changed 180"

-- Gary Vaynerchuk

There's only one doubter that matters, myself. Sure i'll take all the suggestion and advice i can. I'll keep a tally of people that says "it's not possible" as motivation. But ultimately, the one who makes or breaks my resolve is still myself. That's at least how i think it.

So now, you can consider me a full time Steemian. Yeay! Lets hope I perform as well as i did while i was part time eyh..

I've also attended the first TeamMalaysia Gathering

It's remarkable to say the least. I felt the same thing as I did during Steemfest2. That feeling of knowing someone before I've even met them, and the act of physical introduction feels more like long time friends finally come together. Though personally i have not been too many networking events, I've heard older Steemians with more real world experience saying it's nothing like typical networking events where things are uptight and awkward. You can read up on all the many reflections of the 70+ attendance event, though again in typical fashion, I have not written mine. The tag used is #mymeetup18, 'my' as the shorthand for Malaysia and 18 meaning this whole year. Which will be the de-facto tag for any steemians doing meetups in Malaysia.

A leaderless movement

If this is an MLM, we are all millionaires already.

  • Daniel Doughty

But what we have is better than the best MLM!

When Satoshi Nakamoto first created bitcoin, he envisioned a society where there are no longer any appeal to authority and hierarchical structures in finance, a true decentralization. Ned and Dan further develop this idea for a decentralization of social media.
The beauty of such projects is that the impact along the way always far exceeds the original design.

"Bitcoin aims to disrupt finance, but it has disrupted regulations long before it disrupted finance"

  • Andreas Antanopolous

And just like the two pronged impact made by bitcoin, I have found that Steem has allowed for a decentralization far beyond just social media.
I first noticed it in Steemfest Lisbon, and then a few days back in TeamMalaysia Gathering. And if my assumptions are right, I'll probably see it again in Steemfest Malaysia this September and later on during Steemfest 3.

We have lived all our lives in a hierarchical structure, everything needs to be done only with permission. Someone is always in charge..

Well, but with Steem and what it made possible, no one needs permission to do anything for the community. Wanna help out? go ahead! have an idea? voice out! no one wants in on your idea? Do it yourself! It's really amazing that we literally do things the open source way now. People will "copy" your ideas, and improve upon it, of which you then can learn and apply on your original idea. Everyone is empowered and no one else other than the free market decides whether what you're doing is good.

also I bought a book by Tim Ferriss. Even when I used to say one doesn't need a mentor to improve one's life, It seems like i just got myself a whole tribe of them.

From my instagram feed.. guess I should have used Steepshot.

2/52 is done, the year 2018 is 4.2% gone.
