İç Kale
Kaleler surları ile beraber düşünüldüklerinde oldukça büyük alan kaplayan ve içerisinde bir yerleşim yerini barındırabilen yerlerdir.
Bu açıdan ele aldığımızda Amasya şehir merkezinde bulunan İç Kale, Yeşilırmak Nehri kenarındaki surları ile Kızlar Sarayı arasında kalan bölgeden oluşur. Bugünkü yerleşim yeri olarak Hatuniye Mahallesi olarak geçen yerdir.
Bu kale, diğer Osmanlı devrinde yapılan kalelerde olduğu gibi 3 girişe sahiptir. Bunlar alçak köprünün bulunduğu Saray Kapısı, İstasyon Köprüsünün bulunduğu yerdeki Meydan kapısı ve son olarak da saat kulesinin olduğu yerdeki Helkis Kapısıdır.
Kale içerisinde 19.yy. Osmanlı evleri ve sokak dokusunun yanı sora Hatuniye Camii, Çukur Mustafa Bey Hamamı, Yıldız Hamamı, sokak çeşmeleri Şehzadeler Müzesi ve Hazeranlar Konağı bulunmaktadır.
Şu an kale içerisinde eski konutlar onarılarak pansiyon, kafe, restoran ve butik otel olarak hizmet veren yerlere dönüştürülmüştür. Aynı zamanda eski konutlarda da hala yaşayan insanlar bulunmaktadır.
İç Kale, şehir merkezinin kuzeyinde bulunmaktadır. Hatuniye Mahallesi tren hattında başlayan merdivenlerden çıkarak gidebilirsiniz.
