Quick History of Dice
Dice is one of the oldest gaming devices known to man. According to Sophomore, it was invented by Legendary Greek Palamedes during the time of Troy. In another narration, Herodotus opined that it was invented by Lydians during reigns of King Atys. Well, according to archeologists, dice has been existing before acclaimed inventors existed.

During Roman times, dice were made of bone, ivory, bronze, rock crystal, porcelain, alabaster, marble and other materials.
Cubical dice that is similar to those of the modern ones that you see around have been found in Chinese archeology sites from 600 BCE, also in Egyptian tombs dating from 2,000BCE.
Indian Sanskrit contains first record of dice, more than 2000 years ago.

Pyramidal dice is four-sided and is almost as old as the cubical ones. Royal Game of Ur cannot be played without such dice, it is one of the oldest complete board games on earth, dating back to 3rd millennium BCE.

Dice games became mathematical in 16th century, it was subjected to some kind of mathematical analysis. This idea was conceived by Galileo and Girolamo Cardano, then probability and concept of randomness was introduced into the game.
Before this century, some sort of divination or supernatural activities were attached to fall of dice.
