Got some new styles!

in #exhaust6 years ago (edited)

I just finished a 3.8km run that lasted about 0hh:26mm:12ss !

So today I smashed out my 3.8km hilly run in a faster time than usual... which is always exciting.

Even more exciting is a new training method I've started. I've spoken about hill sprints before... but I've now changed it up, and it's working amazingly!

I basically used to run up this crazy hill, and then run down... and see how long it would take me to do 5 sprints... usually 11ish minutes.

I've now changed that to an absolute 'run for your life, being chased by snakes' full on sprint for 30 seconds... and then resting for 4:30... so basically every 5 minutes you're running like a crazy person.

Despite it's click-baity title, I was super inspired by this report:

I've done these sprints 3 times now... and I've felt significant improvement each time AND my normal run has gotten easier (lung-wise... still need some work on the conditioning).

Anyway.... excited!
Why did I find this amazingness at the end of summer?

Wait! You're a babe?

Not that it matters but I saw Ninja and thought you were a dude

Congrats on beating your record. I used to jog but that was many years ago. These days, I can't even run up the stairs without panting

Followed you

Cheers!

Soooooo….. on my resume I've got down 'dude-babe', so I guess you are right and you were right!

That video is actually a report from an Australian news channel where they measure different stats of that reporter... she then spends 15 weeks doing 5 30 second sprints (and that's all) and then they measure everything again. I was really inspired by that, just because I had had good results from sprints years ago, and totally forgot.

Yeah, honestly, it doesn't take much to get to stair-panting stage, but it's so much effort to break out of that... hardly seems fair really.

Just need to hire someone to literally chase you up the hill. What do deer eat? Maybe you could get the deer to help?

What's the current APR% that you'd lease your dogs and/or cats out at? Do you do a direct SP to cat atomic swap?

The deer are super skittish, they get scared if they stand on a stick... but there are turkey vultures around so I could just load up on roadkill and try and outsprint them....

Only offer atomic swaps for gerbils unfortunately.

Might still work though -- surely there are some overly aggressive farm dogs nearby?

Nice one. I've never got into the whole hill sprint drills, but it does seem to work according to everyone who tries it.

Thanks! Honestly, each one is a huge mental effort... I really have to psych myself up for each sprint, but yeah, the improvement from each session is pretty exciting.

I have read somewhere that the "run for your life like a million spiders are directly behind you and want your blood" kinda sprints are apparently good for general health XD and it seems to be working for you by the sounds of things :)

I did try it out back when I was doing more bushwalks but didn't really run for my life as there are sections where that can lead to accidents. The dogs thought it was awesome fun times :)

Would have been easier to change your style by just going out and getting yourself a nice new suit!
